And out of suprise... everything will be backfilled.

That's sixty-five (65!) new Captains. I hope they all come out of DFW FOs. :) I'm love love loving this movement in my bid status.

Hoping some or better yet....all of those 9 needed in MIA will be junior to me. :D Got 3 below me on paper right now. The more the merrier. Awfully tempting to change my bid to CA CRJ ORD........but I'd probably end up on eternal reserve there......

Are you a 2008 hire?

Yup, but for some reason I can't get another interview, got a contact from a JC'er and seeing where that leads.

hired at 500/50 in April of 08'....can't get an interview at 1600/120 ATP written, current 135 caravan driver..blows the mind

It will be interesting to see what happens if it ever makes 2008. Eagle didn't hire for a year 2009-2010. Soooo many 2007-2008 hires though.

It's kinda fun revisiting old threads :)

Holy smokes there used to be a lot of various three letter identifiers in DECS.

PS Latest bid saw 170 vacancies, current hiring plan is 128ish monthly

What’s funny about this thread is I remember being so sure I would be a three year captain after getting hired in early 2010. The bids in 2011 had so much promise and the junior captain was plummeting away from 10 years.

Then AMR went bankrupt.

2006-08 hires were the guys I mostly flew my first year with. Captains for around 2 years at that point, they were still sitting reserve for the most part. Then we went to street captains and guys with less than 2 years on property were holding 175 CA. Then COVID hit wiping all the direct entry CAs and a bit off the bottom of the regular CA list. Current bid went deeper than anticipated, junior 175 CA is 08/2018 hire I think and 145 is 01/2019.
My take on it - when the dust settles, upgrades should be roughly half the flow time. But then with the hiring wave everywhere that ain't gonna happen either, the biggest outflow is from the middle of the list - senior FOs/junior CAs, I'd imagine we'll be hiring direct entry captains pretty soon here again.
