Dump Forks

Despite the fact this place sucks, I can't stay inside for more than 15 minutes without going crazy. I have to get out, but then when I'm outside, I realize there's nothing to do so I have to come back.

A) The Dorms suck.
B) A car is a must.
C) This place is gay.

What are you guys up to?

went flying this morning and then signed off my student for a practice area solo. despite the winds being 270v300/12, he made a better approach and landing than a lot of the seminoles and arrows were making. one of the tower guys commented how nicely he plopped down. i was proud. then WE got ramp checked after i went out to congratulate him!

it's a beautiful day, billy. go have some fun outside while it lasts. i'm going to go wash my car (because that'll ensure the weather stays nice for another 6 hours or so and then it'll take the obligatory dump).

You're bored??? I'm bored too here in Grand Forks. I'm gonna play flight sim...

Oh come on people, there is plenty to do. I am pretty excited today, next semester's work schedule came out and I received some good slots. Two 325's, two 415's, and one of each 221 and 222. And not one launch starts before 3!

I saw that you passed your 14 Jace, good job!

you could always do what I did and go out and have your ass handed to you by 8s on pylons. I dont think i've done them correctly once. Yet I understand mentally what i need to do, it just isn't happening. Landing in hillsboro with the winds today was pretty fun though.

My 323 instruc pretty much tought me how to do the 8s completely wrong. I had no idea I was screwing them up so bad untill I got to my stage. Luckily my stage pilot was a good guy and demonstrated them the correct way for me after he realized that I was pretty much helpless. He threw the controls over to me after a few demonstrations and I did them fine the correct way. Not an easy manuever, just keep practicing and it'll come.

You're a flight instructor. There lies the difference.

It does suck here. There is nothing to do unless:

1. you are a hillbilly
2. you have a girlfriend/boyfriend
3. you drive a Chevy (you are or will become a mechanic)

Here is my problem.
I am not a hillbilly/hilljack/local
My girlfriend is far away
I drive a Honda

Next semester I hopefully will get hired so I have something to do.

It does make a difference having a girl, a job, and plenty of sh*t to do that makes living easier in this great waste of space called ND.

I hope you get hired too Chris!

Word of advice, don't sweat the test, don't be nervous, and think before you answer a question.

So the Honda is holding up carrying all those pies?

I hope I get hired too, I want to quit driving Papa John's.

The Civic does very well deliverying. I rip this place a new one delivering pizza. I never yeild to locals, I use the finger freely, I speed, and you always get your pizza on time

I think I need a new clutch though. My right balljoint is shot and in order to replace that, I would have to replace the entire upper control arm. If I do that, will have to have an alignemnt. Im looking at $185 which isnt bad. Not bad for a 14 year old car with 165,000 miles.

How is your Japanese vehicle treating you? Im sure its fine.

It's doing great! American car makers could take a bus ride on how to make a car that lasts, holds its value, looks good, and isn't outrageously expensive.

American auto Mfgs are getting better in all areas. I am thinking of getting a Dodge Magnum when I graduate. Sometimes I miss my Chrysler...

yeah, but that's like saying the population of Grand •s is growing...it might be, but its still tiny. Just to throw it back on topic ;-)

no bones about it, japanese cars are pretty much just appliances. they do their thing and don't complain. not too fancy, not too flashy, they do what they're supposed to and little more. for what i need in a vehicle, japanese suits me just fine. my dodge was more fun, but i don't need fun in a car...for fun, i go flying.

they can be fun too though. now I'm not talking about honda civics that people put mods on so that they look like crap. I'm talking about Supras, 300ZX, etc. My parents live in Japan right now and I was lucky enough to get a '91 Supra Twin turbo for really cheap...now that was a fun ride...till my brother killed it anyway :-(

Yes I passed... it was because I hadn't flown for 2.5 weeks that I failed the first one. I'm on lesson 18 now...moving quite along.

Yes, American car manufacturers dropped the ball on quality real bad. I will never buy one... even my dad's girlfriend's 1999 Corvette has problems. Some day I'll afford to go rear-wheel drive German... I want my 1995 BMW M3.

For now I have my somewhat decent 2000 Civic Si. It's quick enough for me and handles pretty good for being a front-wheel drive.

This guy in a very new Corvette Z06 was begging to race me on I-29 today... of coarse I can't stand a chance, but I did it anyway. Jeeze the aftermarket exhaust on that Corvette thing sounded so good. At 125MPH I gave up... he was way ahead of me. I guess people don't get much of a chance to have fun with there cars here, so the older guy driving looked thrilled.
