Drinking Age on Airplane?

Hey, going to iran tuesday, but routing takes us LAX-AMS-THR.

Me and my ma were talking about if it's legal for me to drink on the plane. She said that since the airline is KLM and based in netherlands, it follows their laws?

True? False?

If so, what is the drinking age for netherlands? Just wondering...

I don't even think there is a drinking age there. However, I doubt you can drink.

There must be some type of international law setting a specific age for all international flights. National flights might be different.

I found out drinking age is 16, but not widely enforced.

But brian, why should their be a international law? Once the plane lands, they'll be in the country in which it'd be LEGAL to do so, so what's the difference?

If you're willing to pay $5 a beverage (or more!)

Once it lands is another story. I thought you were talking about on the air. Once it lands you follow the local rules. (or not:D )

No, im talking about in the air.

Im saying, the next destination the plane will be making is in Amsterdam where it is legal to drink at 16, so why not while on the airplane?

Not like i want to have a martini or anything, but maybe glass of wine? Beer?

Just kind of wondering more than anything.

because the airplane isn't Amsterdam.. duh!

you can drink in the "country" that permits it.. but you have to legally enter that "country" in order to be allowed that opportunity.

Is it really that important to drink on the plane? I mean, there is nothing like being loaded sitting in your seat at 38,000 feet. Try Nyquill, it will have the same effect.

Just drink soda till you get there, then do what you have to do.:)

Haha, will just have to then. Not a big deal, been waiting 15 years, a whole 10 hours is nothing!
