Dreams about flying?

I'm not well educated on psychology, but didn't I read that most modern psychologists pretty much think that most of Freud's theories have been discredited at this point?

Freud and Marx. Two things that can be accused or used without reading them or at least well of them. "That's Marxist!" Well, maybe, but it's good to read Marx if you have a problem with it. I have not read but a few pages of him. What I have read is not really that debatable because it is first few pages of his Manifesto (I think) and it basically said something common sense. The brains of revolutions are in the bourgeois and the force in the masses. As for the rest, well I think I can say that even many of today's liberals would have problems with it, though I'd have to read to be absolutely sure. But not all socialism is Marxist. Nor can Freud be reduced to the sex/mother construct. I'm excited to finally get a chance to read Marx next year. And also the great English conservative political thinkers. I think we also read Freud.

I dreamed once I was flying alone illegally. I got up in the air and I think I was not sure what to do. I couldn't even fly the traffic pattern and I think I was trying to "get away" from ATC. Also sneaking around the taxiway in the plane illegally solo.

Marx is interesting to read. A good portion of what he wrote was actually history rather than political advocacy. You'll enjoy it.

I'm pretty sure I've had plane accident dreams too, but none that I can remember right now.

I did have one very vivid dream a few days before soloing one of my students. I was driving by the airport on my way to work, and I saw a Citabria takeoff pitching way up and yawing with no right rudder input and it just did a stall spin followed by a huge plume of smoke a quarter mile off the departure end of the runway. I drove to the crash scene as fire trucks and ambulances were getting there, and I found it was one of my students going out on his solo flight.

I'm not really sure why I had that dream... By this point I had solo'd at least a dozen students, and this particular student was an excellent student of mine. I remember though in our briefing though, before his solo, I made sure to emphasis trim, pitch control, and rudder to control yaw.

As a CFI though, it just made me remember the importance of my job, and that it shouldn't be taken lightly teaching others to fly. They will go off to jobs all over the world with hundreds of people's lives in the palms of their hands everyday.
