Done with IOE

Well groundschool started March 1st, and I finished IOE on May 1st. Due to a shortage in IOE instructors I had about a week delay in starting after my checkride.

Groundschool went really well, not overly difficult, I even made it home all but one weekend. Sim started well except for my first week time slot 12am-4am, but I struggled the second week but had a much better schedule 4pm-8pm. I took the checkride on April 13 and it went real well.

I started IOE on April 23rd with a DFW-MSP-DFW turn and then the same flight again on the 25th. I then went back to DFW on the 28th for a 4 day trip to DSM, ORD, ALB, MKE, DFW, TUL, CLE, DFW. I got 8 landings in and they are still bad, but I was able to fly a couple of ILS's to mins.

I start reserve this friday and will be on reserve all month. I should be able to hold a line next month. They are way understaffed on the CRJ in ORD, so the way it looks is the only reserve month I will have will be my first.

All in all, Eagle has a great training department and so far I really enjoy the company. I will be moving from Seattle to Chicago in the fall because I hate commuting. It is also really nice not having to fuel your own airplane in sub zero temperatures.

Congrats!

Don't worry, soon enough you'll be greasing them on with regular consistency and be able to shoot ILS's to mins in your sleep!

What did you find most difficult about IOE?

[/ QUOTE ]

Learning the company procedures, and keeping up with paperwork on short turns.

Sorry, but what does IOE stand for?
Also, what does ILS to mins mean?

Thanks

IOE = Initial Operating Experience (Time flown with a company checkairman after completion of the checkride to ease the transition into day-to-day line ops. Generally a period of 25 to 30 hours)

ILS to Mins = Flying an ILS and establishing contact with the runway enviroment at the published Minimum Altitiude. (Quite the rush! Still!)
