I understand that Hawaiian pays you in sunshine.

Have no idea, but seems like a sweet gig.

Two airlines in two of the most expensive places in the nation. Maybe the better question is what is the QOL for a junior dispatcher there?

That doesn't pay the bills though.

You're correct. May be easy for a single person possibly.

The housing may not be a shock IMO. In Boston you get 7ft of snow for that $1800+ a month.

My question is this : Is Hawaiian a place people go to get experience or if you tough if out at the start, can you can make a decent living on the back end ?

That low ?

To the best of my knowledge VX doesn't have a "set" pay scale. Remember they do not have a union. They do get cost of living increases yearly from what I have heard. Maybe someone else can shed some light.

I think Hawaiian's top-out pay is somewhere in the 80's (for dispatcher.) Of course, that would just be base pay and not include any sort of license pay, shift differential, or whatever else they have in their contract.

Assuming 40hrs a week, you could live very comfortably on that pay.

You can live very comfortable on any given pay depending on lifestyle and circumstances. But this is SFO we are talking about, so I'd be cautious on the assumption of how comfortable you can live.

They have a 10 year scale that starts at 65k and tops out around 85k.

You guys have gone way overboard with the cost of living comments for Virgin. They don't have any issues keeping Dispatchers. People obviously have no problems getting by on 65k for a year. If you know where to live, its not difficult at all to live comfortably on that amount.

I agree. OT has a lot to do as to where you grew up as to say xxx amount is or isn't enough. A person living in Florida isn't going to have the same opinion as someone in NYS.

Honestly, as someone who has spent their life in city next to Burlingame, you need $3,000/mo AFTER tax to live comfortably as a single person with a 1 bedroom apartment with parking and a safe neighborhood anywhere within 25 minutes of Burlingame. Anything less and you'll be making sacrifices somewhere.

That said, the Millbrae/Burlingame area is fantastic to live in, if you can afford it. I would honestly buy a house here over anywhere if I had the millions you need to do so. Fantastic views from the hilss, and you can't really put a price on safety, you're safe anywhere around here.
