Do you know your history? (Part XXII)

You don't see anyground adjustables anymore - but it would be neat if they had Ground adjustable props for little planes so you didn't have to choose between climb or cruise.

I wouldn't even mind seeing some of the higher end models that currently run a fixed pitched prop having the two setting hydraulic prop.

You know, I think some of the LSAs have ground adjustable props... I'd have to do some digging to see which though...

Edit: From what I can tell, Sensenich came out with a composite ground adjustable in 2008.

Well, it made a huge leap forwards in aircraft performance. Better climb, better cruise, lower fuel consumption. It was one of the design elements that made the DC-3 such a spectacular success and it played an enormous role in WWII aircraft and their capabilities. Not to mention that the hydraulic, constant-speed, variable-pitch prop is still the performance prop design in use today.

Good, good...

What else did Hamilton Standard develop with this new prop?

Think multi engine airplanes...

B-17? Just throwing it out there considering it has roots in the Boeing 247, of which the D model was the first to have the CS VP hydromatic prop...

Think in generalities for multi engine airplanes...

Put it this way...
