DL Hiring - Open externally - February 2020

If they’re making calls on a Sunday you have to wonder if they know something about a travel ban going into effect.

An FYI for anyone who was supposed to test tomorrow; just got a call from DL that testing/interviewing has been cancelled and that hopefully a new application will open up again at a future date.
So are they scrapping the whole thing and will re-post sometime later?

Furloughs are very likely for all the majors, with all the cuts in flights and routes. It won't happen overnight, because there is a window for existing people to either retire early or voluntarily take time off before the airlines furlough. If there are furloughs, every furloughed employee must be given the chance to return to their job before any new hires can be brought in. I would think it would be any re-posting would be at a much later date, like a few years.

I interviewed earlier this week. Haven't heard anything yet. I have a feeling I'll be hearing something soon. I'll completely understand when that time comes. People who will be furloughed deserve to get their jobs back first. Might be a few years before everything gets back to normal. Cargo is very busy right now which is good for me. Hopefully that continues. Stay safe everyone!

I also got a call from Flight Control management giving me the bad news, and the manager with whom I spoke told me they are indeed scrapping the whole bid and will post again at some point in the future. However, I didn't dig any deeper to ask if anyone who had already tested/interviewed will be kept in a pool for later consideration, because at this point it really doesn't matter.

Yeah if they said they are scrapping the whole bid they most certainly wouldn’t have anyone in a pool.

I think like paincorp said, bigger priorities now. It’s also not right to keep people waiting to hear back for an undefined period of time.

There may be more interest in voluntary time off than they can grant. People are still going to retire. And hopefully this will be shorter term and demand will be closer to normal by the summer. If that happens there probably will be a posting later this year.
