Does anyone know when do atp will start the djet training or will start the program?

Last year I heard atp will get deleveries this year but havn't seen an update.

Hopefully costs does not go up again.

I had heard from ATP late '08 or early '09. Sounds like to me that the production has slowed down for now; but I could be wrong about that.

I would bet a lot that there will be additional charges for the djet. If they force you to do it then the program's price will go up. They might just make it a +$X,000 "upgrade" to the current program though.

From one of the press releases i got with the brochure, it said 2009. But as clocks said, its gonna cost more, or it will be something like the CRJ FTD, maybe get 10-20 hours in it.

I dont know what the costs are to overhaul a jet motor, but I know its significantly more than it is for the cessna/pipers.

One of the owners of ATP told me the prce would go up a tad, but wasnt expecting it to much, he said there is only one engine instead of two, and maintance cost would be alot lower, no 100 hours or annuals I believe too if I remember right

The Djet will come as an additional 'add on' to the program. The reported price for adding the Djet is going to be 20k.

I am not at ATP, but hope to be there soon. It was my understanding that 3 hrs of Citation flight time were included in the RJ Course. I also was led to believe that the DJET's would allow ATP to offer the same training; high altitude and high performance endorsements. Or have I read too much into the info on ATP's website?

hopefully they wouldn't include it in the program but as a add-on only to keep the costs down. If they included in the program and prices go up...mom and pop fbo here i come.

The Citation flight is no longer part of the program. The RJ course has replaced it. I believe they give you your high performance and high altitude endorsements in the RJ sim.

The Citation was the biggest joke anyways... People paying to allow ATP to fly their citation around and use it for business.... Completely a joke, hell half of the time they didnt have a clue when they were going to yank students and make them do their jet ride... Glad to hear its gone to be honest. Just unfortunate its gone and no price drop.... Makes ya wonder.

Actually Im glad I got to get the citation ride, I always wanted to fly jets, but after the citation ride, I was like pistons are just as fun if not more, I would probaly be at a regional had I never flown the citation, and be like the rest of you all complaining about first year pay. :P

Single male, 121 1st year pay is doable.... I'm one who is making it and you can search all my post I've yet to complain... If you know what you are getting yourself into before you make the leap you should be fine. Then again coming from college where I've made about 10k on average a year I guess you just have to be discipline with money and that I am. I have bills (four different loans from school, flight, car), rent and all that and I am living rather comfortable...... Just figured i'd throw that out there ;)!

OK guys thanks for clearing that up for me. Not that it matters that much anyway. Heck I've got 6+hours flying from the right seat of a CJ1 (although I couldn't log it) Even a couple T/O & L. Got to fly with my wife's old boss. Talk about a sweet fringe benefit. So now I'm back to finishing up my PPL checkride scheduled for Sunday. ATP here I come.

I live in Tulsa, so I'm headed to the Arlington, Tx location. I'll be taking the first class date they have available.

In talking with them on the phone about the Djet, it sounds like they don't have a solid idea what or when the role of the new planes will be for ATP students. "They" will be "implemented" one at a time over the next year. The only thing the Phone Dudes seem to be sure of is that ATP will be the defacto source for training for new owners on the plane. It sounds like there might be some kind of ride along program as well. (This is all coming from the dusty areas of my memory.)
What I'm more excited about is the RJ FTDs that are making their way to select locations. I'm looking to start the 90 day prog. in three months at FTY. Bridge course in Atlanta= one less trip to Jacksonville.
I'm sure in '84 the world thought ATP was nuts for using twins for instrument training, mayhap one day 'lil jets will be the norm?

ATP might say, "they'll be the defacto place for Djet training," but after talking to Diamond directly, it's still in the air. Diamond said that they have not awarded anyone the Djet training contract and are suprized that ATP is saying anything close to it.

Yeah, exactly! I was waiting at the office for it to come pick me up and my instructor asked me why I didn't look excited....because I was thinking to myself I'd rather get an extra 5 hours of seminole time than to "fly" the citation. The only positive that came from it were the endorements.

We also flew to a destination where me and the other two guys doing their citation ride had to sit at an FBO and wait about 3+ hours while upper management had a business meeting....

Glad to see that it is done away with.

you guys are LAME! hahaha!:sarcasm: I thought the citation ride was awesome. Definately a highlight of the program for me. Of course you pay for it indirectly, but it wasnt optional so why not just enjoy it? I sure as hell wouldnt have traded the jet flight for 5 more hours in the PA44. That thing was a dog.

And BTW, they DO let you fly it. I loaded the flight plan in the GPS, took off, hand flew to about 10,000 on the SID, controlled the autopilot enroute, and hand flew the approach after using the autopilot for vectors to final. Basically did everything except taxi and talk on the radio...ya know the co pilot stuff lol. It was an eye opening experience to fly a jet...kinda gave me a taste of what I was working so hard to achieve at the time. Good memories for sure.
