Disgusting

For as much piss and vigour that velocipede feels towards jBlue, (whose facts are incorrect btw regarding the Jblue pay.) I don't get why you turn a blind eye to the giant Rjs. Do you feel they're good for the industry as a whole? (And JB/Skybus/etc are not what I'm arguing). Basically regional rates are stagnating while equipment size is growing.
He doesn't believe it affects his pay.

That CRJ in the picture holds 76 passengers. Just a few years ago, NWA mainline had DC-9-10s that held 78 passengers, just two more than the barbie jet. The difference? NWA Captains were making $124/hr to fly it (or about $165/hr before the concessions), while the CRJ guys will probably be making half of the concessionary rate. Seggy is absolutely right. It's enough to make me physically ill.

It is not that. I think, Velo has an issue with JB, Skybus, and VA because they are NONunion airlines. Most regionals are.

Then he should hold the same issue with Skywest for flying such large aircraft around with no union and 50 seat rates.

No he doesn't my love, I've been arguging with him about this for months and all he seems to do is ignore the issue while saying that RJ's don't affect his pay rate.

Not only that but also employee pay

however, it should be noted that the above companies are not RJ's... :)

It's so bad that you're all quitting tomorrow, right? Your resignations are already in the mailbox, no?

Didn't think so. Big talk, though.

It all starts with the big boys in ALPA. ExpressJet can have the best 76 seat rate out there but it won't matter if none of the legacies/majors want to sign up to dance with her. Prevent their CEOs from undermining great regional contracts by switching partners every 5-10 years and you might be able to get a significant increase in regional pay.

Just so I'm not getting the wrong impression here, but you're not advocating taking lower pay rates so we can simply stay employed are you? By we I don't mean Express, I mean pilots in general. Because it's that attitude that screws us all in the end.

I thought of that too, but I wasn't too sure so I figured I'd ask! :)

I agree very much that if mainline would hold onto their damned scope clause it wouldn't be an issue and we wouldn't have 86 seat aircraft in the regional ranks.

I deleted it my man. . .sorry.

I noticed the comment in his post about "majors/legacies not signing to dance with her. . ."

and I figured it didn't mean scope, but rather that if the companies are able to easily move around from sub-contractor to sub-contractor it won't matter what the pay rates are.
