Departing KSAN VFR

Way cheaper to just pay the $25 than buy fuel.

Walk out the door and up the hill about 1000' and you'll find the trolley stop. $5 for an all day pass.

Look at my page here; http://160knots.com/SanDiego_KSAN.htm

Gas is ~$1 more there than what we are paying. It works fine for us. Your probably paying a lot less though in AJO.

Ever tried to get into LAS when it's busy VFR.

"Your going to have to wait a little while. Remain clear of Class Bravo."

Yeah, but that's Vegas. :)

That's usually because flow is in effect and when you pop up VFR they have no place to put you. Even if you've received FF from center you don't have a reservation.

Yeah, I know that. I go there on an almost weekly basis. And I have to call for my clearance before I start engines. If it's during peak hours, I go IFR. If it's during slower times, I go VFR. But being told to stay outside Bravo is still being denied services was my point.

Edit to add: I have never been denied service at SAN. As a matter of fact, they give out Bravo clearances like candy. And 90% of the time it's "via own nav."

IDK why, but just since its VFR out of a Class B. I've done it 500+ times from Class C but never VFR out of a B.

Thanks.... Just don't want to look like a dork in from of the passengers. "NXXXXX, why are you calling me for a VFR departure...."

Have you never flown into PHX???

They hold all departures, VFR or IFR, for arrivals.
I should have been more clear. One memorable night departure I held for 45 minutes and placed and the end of the que, even behind traffic who pushed well after I had taxied to departure pad.

I'm used to IFR in and out, but wanted to try departing VFR.

I have never called CD from the surface of a B airport and asked for a VFR departure. All good.

Few times I have departed ATL VFR it hasn't been a big deal. Just call CD (or maybe just ground depending on how busy it is, they'll let you know) before departure, tell 'em where you're going, and they'll tell you if you'll have to wait a bit or they'll give you a clearance through the class B.
