It would be nice of course but I'm confident in my view of the matter.I'd put money on CLT sticking around over PHL or PHX if I were forced to wager.
I agree just busting your chops!

There's a reason USAirways still has 13 flights per day from LGA to CLT after the slot swap and Delta's addition of flights on the same route. 7 of those 13 are 321's and 3 319's...there's a ton of lucrative business travel here.
God, if CLT closed, we'd have a staffing crisis. We've got 100+ guys here that commute out of CLT to both JFK and BOS. Flew with one on this last trip, and he said if it weren't for the CLT-LGA flights, he'd be screwed. 'Course he's probably going back to American soon, too. Eh, he's senior to me.![]()
Kinda like if Memphis was closed for Endeavor crews. Oh wait...
FedEx guys must be getting used to having another guy with them now on MEM-JFK-MEM flights.
That was already happening. When I was doing the JFK-MEM commute, I was rarely on a FedEx plane when I was the only jumpseater. MEM-DTW on FedEx was a knife fight before MEM closed, I can only imagine what it's like now.
The largest complaint I've heard of Memphis flyers is ticket prices and delta.
Hopefully with WN making the entrance they plan , B6 will soon follow.

However, everyone complains about their 'hometown' airline.
The PHX media takes a steaming coil on USAirways all the darned time.

Funny thing is that everyone I know in DTW loves Delta and complains anytime they fly on anyone else.

Wouldn't exactly call it an "entrance." AirTran has been there for years. Also, why drop ticket prices to the point of making an 8% profit margin when based on competition pricing and demand you can do it with a 10% margin? SWA isn't the cheapest on a LOT of routes they fly, and I think the days of assuming SWA is going to be dirt cheap 6 months after they enter a market are over. They're adapting to the marketplace and becoming a lot like the bigger carriers they compete against. As for B6 following into MEM, I'm pretty skeptical on that. The O&D traffic there vs going somewhere in South America makes it not make a whole lot of sense with the current network. I'd wager we fly somewhere closer to Brazil before we fly into MEM. Biggest rumor around is either A330s or A350s for longer haul stuff. The last domestic routes we announced were either business travel routes (BOS-PHL, BOS/JFK-CHS) or strong arm deals from Massport (Worcester, MA-FLL/MCO). Other than that, it's been places like Medelin, Port Au Prince and Lima.
I just priced a ticket from MEM to ORD for next Thursday. The cheapest I could find was almost $700. Fly out of LIT instead, $320.
