Delta TA

@Trip7 is catching a lot of hate but the man has clearly done his research and is presenting a logical argument.

I'm not a DL guy and I may not agree with his views, but I do respect anyone who does their research to come to a educated decision. It shows that he takes his career seriously. A fellow pilot who does that isn't someone who needs to be given a "talking to" IMO.

I just laugh. Remember, everyone around here used to give him a "talking to" about his opinions, telling him that he was "making a name for himself" and needed to make sure he didn't "burn bridges." Then he got the best job in the industry straight from the right seat of an RJ without breaking a sweat. He dropped the mic a long time ago.

Sheesh.

All I am saying is it's good to carry the bones of your (flying ancestors) somewhat.

A decision pops up, open that steam trunk of bones and spend a little time with them. Think about where you are, where you were and what you want from the future.

Personally, I'm in a Marathon, other people are in a Sprint.

I'd like to leave the profession in a better place than when I found it, plus, I'd like that kid that drops into the cockpit to look at all the screens and bright lights to have a career worthwhile of making the sacrifices needed in order to make it happen.

I talked about having a "Good Captain / Bad Captain" book that I refer to when I have to make a decision and try to understand what puts either person in either book but also realize that Good Captains make rotten decisions and sometimes the Bad Captains made the correct, but wholly unpopular decisions as well.

Much like contract talks. I don't want to be that guy that says "it works for me, regardless of the senior or the junior". I want to know what absolutely every thinks because I'm going to bounce back and forth between senior and junior the rest of my career. Like when I never spent a moment thinking about the reserve system for decades because I literally hadn't sat reserve ever in my career until last year and I wish I spent more time considering those rules but I didn't really understand them until now.

I've said the word "I" a lot in this missive. I'm simply urging everyone to learn humility, openness and build a deep bullpen of people that you can bounce ideas and questions off of. Networking doesn't end when we get the job, it's only the beginning.

Oh please Todd. There are a lot of success stories. Please read my post above.

Besides, I made the jump from the right seat (more or less) of a 1900 and I held the mic and built a website trying to help other people, including you.

We all need to focus.

I know you love the role of contrarian, that's cool because I bait Luis on your Facebook page with glee and honor, but after a while, well, time to pour a cold iced tea and look at cat videos.

@Trip7 still has the mic and I'm doing my duty as a mentor to suggest a course correction if that doesn't bother you too much.

No, I know that's your perception, but it couldn't be further from the truth. I couldn't care less about being a "contrarian." I just have a bit of a fetish for facts and reality. And as the saying goes, facts have a liberal bias. I've found that they also have an ALPA bias.

Noted. Anything else?

Just make sure it's indeed chicken then.

I'm not 100% sure.

Hmm.

Good point.

I'm surprised I didn't see you there in the Cambodian food section with your Saipan hat shushing everyone and telling them that the US isn't actually there during a 'Nam flashback.

I'd just be checking for the AK's hanging on the wall in the back stockroom area. And supplies being uploaded from the tunnels underneath the place back there. :)
