Delta Negotiators reach agreement

What I meant is that, to Joe Public, any one of us that is in an airline uniform does the same thing. They don't know the difference between captain and first officer, widebody and RJ, regional and major, any of that. Me = Doug = Al Haynes = you. We see all the differences ... nobody out there gives a rip about it. And of course, they all assume we all earn the big bucks.

I'm asked almost daily why I decided to be a flight instructor instead of a commercial pilot...

Just wait until you become an FO. Then it becomes "Oh, I thought you were a pilot" and "When do you want to become captain so you can fly?"

The general public has no perception that the job Doug does on the MD-88 is any different than the job I do on the EMB-145.

???

Yeah, really. Maybe you can help me out here: how exactly is your job different from Doug's?

Short answer: it isn't. But the powers that be would like you to believe that it is, therefore justifying the fact that you're paid on a much lower ASM multiple than he is. It's crap, don't accept it as fact.

Lol.

I was wondering the same thing. Here's what I thought....might have some inaccuracies in it:

EMB-145- Show up at airport, get dispatch, check WX, preflight plane, pre-departure prep, load pax, start/taxi/takeoff, level off, descent and land, taxi to gate.....possibly repeat a few times from the get dispatch part......end of day, go home/to hotel/etc.

MD-88- Show up at airport, get dispatch, check WX, preflight plane, pre-departure prep, load pax, start/taxi/takeoff, level off, descent and land, taxi to gate.....possibly repeat a few times from the get dispatch part......end of day, go home/to hotel/etc.

I think what FL270 was saying is that we have the *same* job. Just that mine still pays almost $100G's/year (after Jerry Greenstein's 32.5% off sale) and his might cover rent and an occasional night out on the town with Iain.

But the general public thinks we both make $250K/year.

Hehe.

Hey! Speaking of negotiations, what's this rumor of Mesa getting 737s and another Freedom Airlines?

(minor thread creep)

Asking the wrong guy!

Seriously, my only connection/interest in the airline biz when I'm not wearing the epaulets is the website!

If you EVER went back to Riddle and said anything like that to the Kool-Aid masses, you'd be stoned to death!!!!!

Remember how we used to be?

Think they'd let me on campus?

DE727UPS and I are probably on some 'watch list' or something.

Nah, just a change in philosophies. Being someone's employee sucks no matter how cool you perceive your job to be. The more cash you make, the more you are a slave to your employer, but the less cash you make, the more you are a slave to the almighty dollar.

No reason a political agnostic and a conservative can't agree from time to time!
