Delta MD-80 overruns runway... Doug? LOL

Not I!

Plus, our MD-88's hold 142 pax and the MD-90's hold 150 pax. They're a little bigger than the normal garden-variety of MD-80's.

Doug flies a MD-88/90, not an 80.

Delta doesn't fly an MD-80, but their variation of an MD-80. Different airlines fly different configurations and variations. There are Super 80's, MD-82's, MD-83's, and probably more. So if you heard that a Delta MD-80 ran off the runway, it was actually an MD-88.

As the flight into PNS were being cancelled, I was sitting across the "A" Terminal in ATL waiting for my flight to DAB. I think some of the people that were running to scramble for another flight could have beat a flight back home at the pace they were going.

Now speaking of airplanes, I flew on a Delta Shuttle 737-800. I think I had about 6-8" more leg room than on the "Mad Dawg". That thing was nice!

One of the things that sets Delta's 88s apart from the rest of the 80-series is that it has a fairly roomy closet in the cockpit for the crews bags/coats. Because of this closet there is one less cart housing in the first class galley.

Also the 88s have IRSs.

The biggest mystery to me is where the American guys put their suitcases and their coats.

At AA the guys bags are usually on the floor in the closet you see on your right-hand side just as you enter the airplane. (Just inside the boarding door.) They're usually hid pretty well by pax hanging bags and strollers & such.

Iain was trying to protect me in case it actually was me involved in the incident.

Iain's got my back!

Nah, I'm an average pilot. But bad stuff happens to great ones too.

You're always considered a great pilot after you crash.

How many times have you heard, "He was a great pilot, I can't understand why he did that.

well i live here in gulf breeze (suburb of pcola near the beach) and went over to take a quick drive to the airport to see the plane from the GA ramp. By the time i go there in the mid morning it was already pulled out of the dirt. Doesnt look to be too bad though from the distance. Of note, I feel for the pilots around here. We get some really bad fog. It has hindered my flying a lot during the mornings and evenings.

Note to self: "Why do you even both going over to airliners.net to see what's going on in the forums?"

I just go there for the pretty pics. of airplanes (maybe you should only as well) if you put an airplane database on here I'd stop goin over there all togther.

Hint,hint...

Hey, USAFplt, what a small world. I used to live at Eglin AFB/ Ft. Walton Beach area when I was younger! Gosh, I really miss Florida when I think back.

I really wouldn't get so worked up by someone who has probably never flown an airplane that doesn't park on their hard drive.

BTW, I was going to sign up to ask that dude how much flight experience he has, but I'm not paying 25 bucks for those stinkin' boards! If you checked his profile, he works for one of DL's competitors. Kind of unprofessional to bad mouth other airlines in a public forum.

[/ QUOTE ] it's a good idea but it would take a lot of bandwidth and space... so i dunno if that'd be considered or not... it's easier just putting a link to a.net and have them store all the photos...

Re: Geez, why do I even bother?

If this place became another airline picture site, it would degrade fast.

Photographers != Pilots. I know there are photographers who are also pilots, and many photographers that do know their stuff, but looking at A.net, it isn't the type of enviroment that would be pleasent at good old JC.

BTW: You so mean Doug

Edit: I should I say know a lot of photographers so I'll take eanything I said back that might have made them mad

I am just opposed to anything which could remotely make JC anything like A.net

Re: Geez, why do I even bother?

yea, i tend to agree... and i like the idea of the "pictures from the road" more than "pictures of different planes"... doug got some really excellent shots on his last trip - hopefully he'll have an opportunity to post a few today...

Re: Geez, why do I even bother?

I dropped the "Valujet" bomb in the thread which is my way of saying "Screw you guys, I'm going home", Eric Cartman style.
