Delta Disqualifiers

I Volunteer to do recruiting at a job fair. That will kill two birds with one stone. You are showing that you do stuff outside of your pilot duties and you get to hang with the rest of the recruiters. Recruiters from all the different companies see each other all the time on the job fair circuit and are tighter than the "JC inner circle". :)
Can I put that down in my resume for helping at NJC?

I work so I can invest my time in other activities. Like my kids. I already spend enough time away from home.

No Delta career in this fight, but you sound like a whiner... you got to give to get. Pay to play. Someone is offering you some sagely wisdom and all you want to do is disagree. Now before you say you have kids. You don't have to attend EVERY career fair, but sometimes for yourself and your kids, you would have to sacrifice some time to better your career aspects and their quality of life for the future.

Sheesh guys...

Just like my reply to the "go get check airmen time" comment...

A lot of the "recruiter" jobs are currently filled, at least in regards to ExpressJet. It's not just that simple as walking over to the hamster palace and saying "When's the next job fair you're gonna be present at, I'll sell my left testicle to represent this totally awesome organization in an attempt to sucker people to come and work here. Seriously, I'm an amazing brand ambassador and am doing it for YOU and not to pad my resume so I can escape."

Slacker. Those two graduate degrees mean nothing. You're clearly not Tier 1 material. ;)

Don't get me started...I'm waiting patiently rather than running around attempting to start a forest fire.

Probably made him too over qualified!

I think they're just trying to figure how an enlisted Air Force member is flying airplanes around in his civilian career, much less how that same member has an undergraduate degree and finishing up his second graduate degree.

Who am I kidding...why do I get the impression that maybe less than 5% of the Pilot Development Team at Delta have military experience. (rabble-rabble-rabble). ((On the #realtalk note: I'm not bitter, just being sarcastic - see initial reply to Toddski))

Captain I fly with occasionally was told by Delta at a job fair not to long ago that her career is stagnant and that's why they aren't interested in her. Well no kidding...of course it's stagnant.

I guess we are just supposed to make lateral moves every few years in order to keep attending training events.

Well, if thats true, and I'm not saying it isn't, then Delta has made the conscious decision to ignore a great number of very capable and qualified individuals because of, dare I say it - the decisions that Delta made in regards to how it managed and deployed its DCI resources.

______________

And for @Cptnchia, as I am pretty sure it was you that said the application tells you to input the highest level of education completed. It may not have been this thread...but unless I am totally missing it on Airline Apps (and excuse me if I am), but I am also recognizing that you yourself have not applied to Delta since well - since what, about 7-10 years? Just a guess...but...for the record:

Excuse us while you keep patting yourself on the back.

lol - you love it don't you Joe?

What set you off this evening?

How are you enjoying Detroit? Was fairly certain I saw you over near Online Cafe over the weekend, but you made the loop back towards McDonalds. Not sure if you stopped there, but you know that stuff will kill you right?

Nothing. Just seems like many of your posts are to toot your horn about "volunteering" or your masters degree(s)

So far so good! You should have come over and said hi. I highly doubt that the line cafe is any better for me than McDonalds.

He has a wife, he doesn't care about anything else! :bounce:

Try the salads or chicken panini.

Yeah, well, take another look - really don't think it was any sort of tooting on my own, merely responding to other member's statements.

You were on the phone. I know better than to interrupt a gentleman on the phone with, well...I'll guess - your lady.

((And @Maximillian_Jenius just beat me to it))

You may think I'm excessively proud, but I'm not that bad brotha. lol

Dunno man... he might be kinda right. I know two things. Two things. You have not one, but two Masters. And @Autothrust Blue flies the E-175, and likes it. He likes it... a lot!

Yeah, that must have been before I was on my way to ELM as that was when I was on the phone with the wife and wandering around trying to find food. Seriously though, at least come by and wave, she knows where I live and how to reach me.

So far the only noms I've found in DTW to be particularly good was the Chicken Gyro I had with @Derg at the Mediterranean Cafe. Pretty damn good. Other than that I've had Max and Ermas, McNastys, and Wendys and the Mediterranean is by far the winner.

If you're into breakfast, National Coney does great omelets. Prepare yourself though, a Chick Fil A is inbound on the northside of A. The miso soup isn't bad from the japanese spot across from Online Cafe.

I honestly don't tend to eat lunch or dinner at/from the airport(s), unless its the very rare Popeyes spicy chicken po'boy sandwich. Now that's my guilty pleasure. I convince myself its okay since I maintain a fairly active lifestyle at and away from work. (Now that's tooting my own horn)

In my mind, absolutely. But, very few crew members frequent them. If all you're after is the low-hanging fruit of quick meals, then yeah, guess what - it aint gonna be grand.

There are some pretty good places in Atlanta. One Flew South on E comes to mind, exceptional sushi and service.
