Delta back at it again, pissing people off

http://www.seattletimes.com/seattle-news/airline-wars-wound-seattle-pride-parade-marchers/

Just saw a bunch of friends from back home posting this allover Facebook.... What a dirty move delta. Although Seattle is just as responsible for accepting it, they've already killed the mood for this years festival from the sounds of it...

Damn, Delta! Back at it again... pissing people off!

Maybe we have the same friends.

Anyway, it was Seattle Pride that made the offer of exclusivity. Not Delta, so not their fault. Their rules, apparently. The article even states that they first offered exclusivity to Alaska. But I guess that they waivered.

Lastly I just think it's awesome that gays are now commanding such attention and able to freely wield so much power. It wasn't too long ago after all that we were marginalized. Now we have corporations in a veritable gnash cluster to be seen as supportive and willing to drop coin.

Hell just a few years ago some members here were laughing and making offensive jabs at NGPA, while in their infancy. Now look at cha. Ya'll are all clamoring over yourself to join up, get fast passes, and go to our annual convention.

Times are good!

Might be a bit vindictive on Delta's part, but I can see why they don't want another airline using a parade that they dumped a bunch of money into to sponsor as a vehicle for advertisement. I used to work for a very large, midwestern beer company known for massive sponsorships where tactics like this were the norm.

Also, the employees can still participate in the parade, they just can't identify themselves as employees of Alaska.

Considering the source of people I generally hear pushing for 'white pride' and 'straight pride' events, that's generally their only intention.

Yep! I think that people forget about events like St. Patrick's Day or Oktoberfest. These are events that celebrate a strong culture, both admittedly a White European culture. But claim instead that they're at a disadvantage, because they want a Straight White male parade, Or White Entertainment Television. Forgetting that they too have their own specific days of national celebration of a cultural event. That invite others from all colors and walks of life to also join in on their specific celebration of life and culture.

Gay Pride is the same as St Patty's day, for example, in that it is a day of celebration of a culture. Gay culture.

Gay Pride, BET, LOGO channel. These were all things were created as a need for a negatively disaffected community, to be able find their own voice, and see positive images of themselves on television. Because networks at the time, weren't interested in showcasing Black actors, or positive gay/lesbian characters on television years ago. Necessity is always the mother of invention, even in this case.

It is Alaska Airlines merging with Virgin America? Not JetBlue? Do we know what name will stand?

Correct, with Virgin America and the Alaska name survives. But the pilot rumor is another merger down the road with jetBlue, which may not be too far-fetched. jetBlue's organic growth plan on the west coast is severely limited at SFO/LAX by gate space. They can only do so much at LGB. You're probably gonna see Spirit/Frontier in the 1-2 years and that leaves Hawaiian and jetBlue. That could also be a potential combination.

Here's the thing about gay pride. Straight people (especially hot, single women) LOVE gay pride events!!

White pride events? Eh, well Stone Mountain had a Klan rally this year. Who doesn't love violence and disgusting HVAC beer bellies.

Being a heterosexual male, at a gay bar, or gay event is easy pickings. So I'm told, like fishing in an aquarium. So many straight chicks there alone, and drunk in support of their gay friends.

Oh, I see. That would be a big deal. Now, you can bet Delta will have plenty to say about that, if it even gets close to becoming a reality! I wouldn't blame them, either. Time to bring back, Song? ;)

Pride events are so much fun! Interesting generalization, it is amazing how many single guys I have met during those events, so maybe that is why? I kind of didn't want to be hit on but seemed to go the opposite way. The Stone Mountain thing was just stupid. Which figures, because the people putting that on weren't the brightest crayons in the box.
