Delta Air Lines (pilots)

What does that have to do with knowing what is going on? My connection is in the same position and I continuiously know of stuff before he does, and he is very well connected. Senior guys don't pay attention unless it directly involves them. Seniority doesn't equal SA with regards to hiring, etc.
Gotcha...
I am just trying to figure it all out and get a glimpse as you are... i am just a poor wanna be at this point!

Pilot Hiring FAQs
1.How many pilots are we going to hire in 2013-2014?

Our initial projection was 300 pilots for 2013-2014 with classes of 50 in November 2013, December 2013 and January 2014 and classes of 20 thereafter. As we develop the 2014 operating plan/budget and evaluate our needs based on attrition, we will have a better idea of whether our requirements will increase.

2.How many furloughed pilots have said they’ll return to Delta?

There are currently 200 pilots on furlough bypass. Of those, 168 pilots must accept recall now or be removed from the seniority list and discharged under the PWA. To date, 142 have stated they will return and eight have declined.

3.How much longer can the remaining 32 pilots on furlough continue to bypass recall?

They can bypass recall for a period not to exceed 10 years from their date of furlough.

4.Will the initial classes be just recall pilots?

Yes.

5.What percentage of the classes will be filled with flow-up pilots?

This depends on how many bypass pilots return. The maximum number of flow-up pilots per month is 29. This number is also limited by the number in the flow-up agreements.

6.Will classes have both Mesaba and Compass pilots in them or does one group have precedent over another (i.e., Mesaba pilots first, then Compass?)

The first 20 flow-ups come from Compass and the next nine come from Mesaba each month that we are hiring. Numbers are also subject to the limits in the flow-up agreements.

7.What percentage of Endeavor pilots have to be hired?

It’s approximately one-third of all off-the-street positions subject to a cap of 12 per month for now. We committed to monthly hiring numbers (1/3 of all available off-the-street positions up to a maximum of 12 through 2016 and then 15 in 2017 and 20 in 2018 and beyond) until we exhausted the interviews of the 2,000 Endeavor pilots that were on the seniority list (and stay on it) at the time the Bridge Agreement was signed in January 2013.

8.What bases/categories will need the new-hires (i.e., ATL 717, NYC MD88)?

Based on the last bid award, there will be unfilled positions in the following categories: ATLM88B, ATL717B, CVGM88B, DTW717B, NYC320B and NYCM88B.

9.When will off-the-street pilots be hired and how many?

All positions not filled by flow-ups or by the Endeavor Streamlined Selection Process (SSP) will be filled by off-the-street pilots, and we expect off-the-street hires in the first non-bypass class.

10.How do I put in a referral for an off-the-street pilot?

Recommendations for pilot candidates are made online through the AirlineApps.comsystem in response to a candidate’s request. These recommendations become part of the candidate’s application and may be referenced by the Pilot Selection Team during the application review process. To add a recommendation to a candidate’s application, the candidate has to request the recommendation through AirlineApps. When requested, AirlineApps will mail a link to the individual requesting the recommendation.

You may also send an e-mail recommendation to XXXXXXXXXXX but this will NOT be added to the candidate’s online application for future review. We are taking these recommendations seriously and expect that if a Delta pilot is vouching for someone, you not only know the individual personally but have a basis to believe he or she would be a solid addition to the pilot group.

Exactly why I won't give a rec out to just anybody who asks. I've never had it happen, but if someone calls and asks how I know them, I'd like to have an answer.

FYI, all indications are that we will require more than the initial 300 previously announced.

how long do you think it would take from now to get to ground school...all things working perfectly? After the furloughs return...

Surprisingly little info has come out here so far about the nuts & bolts that applicants can expect from the Delta interview process once they hit Virginia Ave. Or did I just miss something ?

CRJDriver has done a nice job showing AA applicants what to expect.

Considering JC has people with connections to high places at Widget Wonderland, maybe a bit of heads up could be provided ? Inquiring minds might want to know. :)

Well, considering that Delta last hired in 2010, and they have most likely updated the question bank/scenarios, I guess we'll have to wait for the first guys to actually interview to get any good gouge.

Umm, not sure you're gonna get any takers there. As much as I like helping other people out, I'm not about to jeopardize my career for them.

They're generally pretty "Hammer of THOR" if an employee is directly giving out information like that.

Well, at least tell people whether to rock or not to rock !!

[understand completely...wasn't really speaking of details quite specific enough to be classified info ]

A little birdy says that they've been through a select group of "flows" and calls are commencing for non-flow applicants

Would it be "Hammer of Thor" territory to divulge if a letter of recommendation internal to one's airlineapps.com submission is or is not as efficient in getting a person's app noticed from amongst the 'leventy zillion others as one sent to the stand-alone email address mentioned in the company hiring Q & A earlier in this thread ? Thx.

A little birdy says have your internal recc send it to that email address from the company domain.

Is there an easy way to explain, to someone who is recommending you, how to find that top secret email address to send recommendations outside of airlineapps?
