Delta Air Lines (official)

I am just wondering how the heck can a 21 year old have ATPw/BS or BA & 1200TT.
I always thought doing it all together is nearly impossible.

Doug could walk in Joe Dirt's resume and get him hired.

Doubtful. Just because a DL pilot walks someone resume in no matter if they have 1000 hrs. or 5000 hrs. it isn't a guarantee they will either get an interview. And if granted an interview get hired.

More especially if their preference is military fighter jocks. Now when I say doubtful I don't mean impossible.

I wonder how many hours Navy dudes have to spend in a sim learning to flare and to land with a crosswind.

Perhaps we'll never know....

Dos Gringos: "It's not the landing, why would I care? You never have a crosswind and you never have to flare. You've got four f888in' wires, how could you miss? I can't think of anything that's easier than this. But once you're on the deck my friend, you're never the same again.... cuz you're stuck on a boat in the middle of nowhere with 5000 other men......

Join the navy..... I don't think so

Livin' on a boat..... I don't think so

Hot bunkin... yeahhhidon't think so

Doin night traps... f888 that, I don't think so......."

They rock.

8 out of 8 resumes I've walked in during the last hiring cycle got an interview and were hired.

Don't jinx my track record, bro!

Doug or anyone else for that matter is not going to walk in a resume for someone that they themselves wouldn't want hired.

And 2, if you get an interview, I would assume it's your job to lose.

Good to know, bro! ;) I just thought big D preferred more military guys vs. peeps who went the civilian route.

Rocketman needs to sieze on this announcement...

Re: Delta (Preliminary Posting)

Whatcha sayin'? And when you wanna go toe to toe on those wings!?!

(You realize that your best payback would be sending me a text at around 6:00 a.m. PST, shortly after I've gone to bed eh?)

I think my phone's on vibrate, lemme go check. Gotta do that else I get the 0300 text message from some freight guy asking 'what's up yo?" :)

Actually , during the last hiring cycle, being "walked in" was the ONLY way to get an interview. That was the last discriminaor that pulled your application from the "Big" stack and place you in the "Short" stack. Obviously, once you get the interview, it's yours to make or break. During my Delta interview process, they hired 3 out of 5 guys that day. Getting the interview is the hard part. It's totally unlike the hiring practices at regionals where they interview practically anybody who meets the mins, but only hire a fraction.

My class in 2000 had 5 pure military guys, 9 military guys with significant civilian 121/135 experience after military, and 7 pure civilian guys. Again, they want the guys who are well thought of enough to get a internal recommendation, and who the interview team thinks a) would be a good Captain some day, and b) they would like to spend a 4 day cooped up with.

Networking works if you want to get hired. Arguing on internet boards works if you are just playing around.

I've recommended 4 at UPS since 1994, one guy twice about 2 years apart who hasn't got an interview because no degree (I think). He's an RJ checkairman at Skywest. Two others got hired. One from the right seat at Horizon in 94 (back when UPS wasn't that great a job) and the other a couple years ago who was a Mesa RJ checkairman. The fourth guy was from Alaska Air in the mid-90's and decided to give UPS a shot. Believe it or not, he got the interview but didn't go to it. Kinda chickened out on it.

Networking is huge if you want to get to the top tier in this biz. That's why JC sometimes leaves me shaking my head...

they are just mins. What do you think the average amount of flight time is? probably a lot higher then that.

Also, those guys without a 4yr....well damn that sucks.

Which doesn't mean Delta isn't getting my resume as soon as I get those 1,000 turbine hours. Conveniently, the degree will be done before then as well.....

Thanks for the info and the correction.
