How did you come up with those 1st year pay scales?

First year captain rates. I know I’ll be on FO pay until my fed ride but the majority of the year will be first year captain pay. The Skywest rate is third year captain pay as they have the longevity match program.

I'm not sure how long you're willing to wait. But given your home life and having a newborn keeping you up at night. What about just applying at the LCC's and giving it 6 months before making the regional jump. Your time gets you in the mix for the likes of F9, B6, NK, but their application and hiring process can take a long time, especially B6.

But given your choices, I think envoy would work best for you. but do you know if you are eligible for rehire having already worked there?

I’m looking at June class dates. Give the baby time to get a little older. I have CJO’s from 2/3, hopefully 3/3 by the end of the week. I left in good standing at Envoy so rehire wasn’t an issue.

I missed the last Spirit CP meet and greet because it was right around his due date then they haven’t had one since.

As for Envoy my biggest concern is being stuck in LGA long term (2 leg commute) even though the company advertises I can transfer out in 3-6 months.

Do you know anyone at Spirit?

People with around 2000TT get hired there pretty regularly. Worth reaching out to old eagle buddies who’ve been hired there (if you have any)to have them shoot you a recommendation as that’s almost a guaranteed interview.

Maybe someone on this site would be willing to recommend you?

No flow to AA, though

Lets be real here, no way would i recommend an ACMI carrier if you want to actually see your child grow up. At this age, you actually see them change when you leave for a trip and come back. If you want to end up at AA, and id get your head checked first, as a civilian youll have to go to a flow through airline. If youre set on OKC, again get that head checked out, Envoy seems to make the most sense but either would get the job done. Im not privy to the flow times and QOL there.

Dallas is about the only place we’d leave Oklahoma for. Thus the reason AA is my first choice. Although at this point I’d still take whichever major calls first.

My guess is they must have gotten an influx of applications after the TA which is why they stopped doing the meet and greets. I think they’d be a good fit for me and allow me to get DFW based pretty quick. Also a place you could make a career at if the music were to stop.

I don’t really have any guidance for you, I just wanted to complement your spreadsheet. Good luck with whichever you choose :)

Isn't Envoy flow almost over 9 years for a new hire today? Plus they have new hires in some type of pool where you have to wait to get a class date. A buddy of mine there said Piedmont is becoming better than them and if he was a new hire he'd go there. For what it's worth....

06’ hires are just flowing to AA now.

The Union flow numbers take into account ZERO outside attrition. So the 10 year flow for a new hire isn't realistic. Probably realistic to take a number between the company and the union.

I figure at Piedmont if 20 people leave a month (eventually) then a person would flow in 3 years from DOH. So 5 flows a month plus 15 to outside attrition. Thats probably a little of a high number right now but maybe not in a year or so.

At Envoy to get a flow around 4 years you'd need 60 people leaving a month above you. They flow 20-25 a month so you'd need an additional 35-40 people leaving to other airlines.

Maybe im crazy thinking Piedmont could lose 20 people a month in the future but maybe not.

Don't forget how quickly upgrades dropped at Envoy from 7+ years to less then 2. Not many hires between 2007 and 2010
I guess it depends on what you want. Fast upgrade time or better flow time? Most people I know just use flow as a back of the pocket option and try to move on somewhere else. I'm not sure if you can apply to AA on the street as a flow hire though.

It seems a lot of regionals have quick upgrades now. I can't think of one without a fast upgrade, if that's what you desire. I'm not sure if they still are but Envoy was junior manning upgrades.

Im only looking at places that are hiring direct entry captains, primarily due to financial reasons. My point about the upgrade time dropping so fast at Envoy was in relation to me thinking we could see flow times drop quickly in the future as well.

That's assuming the flow continues as currently set up. What happens when the AA WO start to shrink? Flow is the last reason I would choose a regional.

I tend to agree but if all other things are mostly equal between the two it can help be a deciding factor. Especially with how difficult it is to get on with AA without being a flow or military
