David Clark DC PRO-X, New Noise-Cancelling Aviation Headset

EASY There... The old man's gulfstream is a real gulfstream... I mean come on, no pansy magenta needles or moving maps, steam gauges that you can "tap" to make a more accurate reading and no hush kits to piss off everybody within county's on takeoff..... God, I love it.....

I was just in aspen in my ego plane last weekend buddy, that sucks we missed.... I am currently down south in the lower Baja area...

I bought a PRO-X, and I have been very pleased with the headset. I fly a very noisy Hawker 700, and the ANR on this headset works great. The bluetooth works great, and the headset is very comfortable. There is an automatic mute function when you're streaming music which as of now can't be turned off, but I called DC, and all the new PRO-X's will have this function, and if your headset is an older one without the mod, you can send it back to them for upgrade for free. If you are close to ORH, you can also walk in and have them do it.

I have not, but if you buy the headset from Amazon like I did, you have a 30 days to return the headset. It was $637 on there, same as everywhere else, and if you have a Discover Card, you can get 5% cash back.
The 30-day money back policy is David Clark's doesn't matter who you buy it from.

BTW, mine gave me a little pleasant surprise. I decided to pair the Bluetooth with my iPad (I paired it with my phone but not my iPad previously) I did it at home and used music as the test for it working. I was absolutely amazed at the sound quality that came through those speakers :)

I got mine in August. I've put about 25 legs on it, half the time bluetoothing Rush 2112 at the same time. I'm still in the first two AA batteries. This headset is full of win. It is the new standard.

I sold my Bose x for the qc15 with the uflymic and it's the best purchase I have ever made. Just keep those AAA's handy.

I just bought one at Aircraft Spruce yesterday. I was supposed to have a few hour trip today but it got cancelled. I'll be able to try them out tomorrow up to Hailey from SoCal. So about 1:40. I have tested the fit and Bluetooth, so far every thing seems great. If they work out I may have a set of tso'd Clarity Alofts up for sale. While I love the headset, it doesn't seem to like our 45. It might be an intercom issue. I seem to pick up mic noise in the headset during any comm's whether I'm the one talking or not. I'm hoping it's a little better with the Pro X's.

I want to resurrect this to say after reading this thread I got one of these for Christmas, and have used it for a week or two at work (737) now.

It is brilliant! Comfortable, clear, the ANC works well. I have used it for a few long 10/12 hour days and it is still comfortable at the end of the day. Plenty of guys I fly with are interested in it too as the advertising campaign hasn't really reached Europe.

I've been very pleased with my Pro-X's. I even used them in a 172, and they did way better than I expected.
Way better than you expected, but good enough in a light single for a full day of flying? Any other light single pireps? I currently have an old set of first generation Zulus that may be on their last legs.

I used them all day in the 402. Comfortable, and placed the right way on your ear, the ANR keeps it pretty quiet. Bluetoothing music didn't work very well though. I love the headset.

Flew for the firts time with mine in a 172 last week. As usual, I looked at them, couldn't believe something that lightweight would work, turned them on and when "holy crap!"

172, Mooney, Warrior. Best headset I've owned.

@LeonPhelps, what didn't' you like about the Bluetooth music? On mine, it works great (at least by my standards)

FWIW the captain I just finished a 4-day with had them and loved them. He said the A20 Bose were TOO quiet (seriously?), and the Telex 850s broke, so he got the new DC. Says they hit the spot.

I think so, but headsets are a very personal thing. Someone on another board said the Pro-X wasn't good enough for a G5 cockpit....and went back to his old school David Clarks.....ooooook.

Maybe something is wrong, but I tried bluetoothing once to the tunes on my iphone on a long leg. The volume was barely audible, and it was louder in one ear than the other. Tried a ton of trouble shooting without any luck.
It would also fade in and out on every transmission over center freq. which got old fast.

I'm really not one to listen to music while flying, but I was bored and wanted to give it a shot.

I'm not sure why the volume wasn't audible. I can help with the atc mute part though. The early ones they shipped has the auto mute feature. Every time there's a comm (atc or intercom) it mutes, then slowly increases the volume once the comm stops. So if it's busy, it's super annoying. On the headsets they ship now there's a way to turn the auto mute off. Once you pair your phone, a simple tap of the Bluetooth button and you'll hear an audible set of beeps. This means auto mute is turned off. You have to turn auto mute off every time you pair/re-pair your phone. With auto mute off you set the aircraft comm volumes and then set your phone volume so you can still hear any comms. If yours wasn't shipped with this feature, contact David Clark and they'll set up a way to ship them the headset. I had to send them mine to have it updated. They just have to swap the board out with a new one. Turn around time was less than a day, the day they got it they sent it back. It's completely worth whatever down time to get this new feature. It made a great headset perfect. I love my Pro-X.
