No bragging rights here, just looking to get on a good routine to build stamina and strength for various outdoor activities, such as biking, hiking, and mostly skiing. Thoughts??

Ride 3.4 miles to the office on my old beater mountain bike. Load hundreds of pounds of freight. Ride 3.4 miles home. Repeat until September.

Yesterday:
3 rounds for time, 30 each: Push-ups, Sit-ups
then,
3 rounds, 30 each: Back Extensions, 4-count Leg Levers, Squat (no weights)
then,
Run 3 miles

Today is heavy lift day. (Squats, Chest press, Pull-ups, Rows, etc.)

Did my Les Mills Combat "Upper Body Blowout" workout dvd in my hotel room.
Sat on my ass in Systems class all day.
Walked to the coffee machine to stay awake.
Carried all those heavy-ass books to and from class.

This E-170 crap is killing my fitbit stats!!

Warmed up to 315x3, 365x3, 385x3 and 405x3 back squat. 265@3x5 good mornings some light bent over rows @2x10 @ 135 and some curls for the girls.

Wrist is still killing me I can't hold on to much mor than 135.

Training for the strong man competitions?

As long as I get my daily 2-5mi run in I'm happy. I try to lift, but hotel gyms are so hit and miss I don't count on it.

This getting old thing sucks. You just don't heal or recover as fast, no matter how big of a steak you eat.

Front squats: 135x1, 225x1, 275x1, 315x1, 325x1, 345x1, 365x1 (all with a 3 second pause at the bottom)

Floor press : 135x5, 185x5 225 3x5 (don't judge me, my wrist is killing me)

Overhead press 135 2x10 (seriously, this wrist needs to heal)

Lots of sitting around talking about Game of Thrones.

Been off for a few weeks, started with a minor injury that I did not want to promulgate, and ended with life getting in the way. I have been up to some good "greasing the groove" with sit ups and pushups, hitting around 200/day. Various other body weight exercises as well.

Needless to say:

Yesterday: 4 mile run (trail). Kind of sucked, was humid, and I was not properly hydrated so I took it easy.

Today: 5 mile run (trail) pacing about mid-8's. Not fast, but that felt good.

Hoping to do my "roller coaster" route this weekend.

Future: Friends are trying to get me into the Y, I might take them up so I can start the Bill Star/Rippitoe five on five plan.

YAY! I worked out today :p

Let see...I did a little of everything within the circuit training realm. Burpees, lateral kettlebell rows etc. I have a semi-personal trainer who runs us ragged for 1/2 hour, 3 times a week. This is the first day of the first 3 day week. Previously, I was only going twice a week. hopefully by NetworkJC, i'll be sporting some nice changes :)

I'm finding it easier to get addicted now that I'm in training...I enjoy that more than I ever did just using a treadmill or hitting the weights!

Is JC getting lazy? :)

Yesterday:

3/4 mile warmup

5x250 sprints

3/4 rest jog

7x400 sprints

Same distance rest jog/walk to half distance rest jog/walk

I was not paying attention to times, but felt like sub 6 minute mile pace on the sprints.

Can't decide if the next workout is going to be hills over a mile (The Roller Coaster route) or 400's and 600's

I'm still doing my 2 mile runs daily or at least every other day. I started lifting again, but I'm still at the early stages.

  1. flat bench
  • 3x10 225lbs.
  1. preacher curls
  • 3x10 80lbs.
  1. leg press
  • 3x12 400lbs.
  1. shoulder press
  • 3x8 105lbs.

I would do the hills next and then after that, 400/600. More bang for your buck! I really need to get some hill running in this winter...

My work schedule threw a curve into my running, If I don't get hills in today I will tomorrow. They are "fun" from a challenge perspective at least.

The best news is that it has let some soreness subside from starting sprints again.
