Some pics I took a few years ago at the Gulf Coast air show when I was stationed at Tyndall AFB. Side note, if you ever get the chance to watch a U2 land do it. Especially if you can ride in one of the chase vehicles.

Couple from last week...another trip, another chance to enjoy flying all over the PacNW...

I have to be reading this incorrectly. You have an approximately 160kt tailwind? Because that's the airspeed tape on the left, correct? And it's reading 241 KIAS?

I think you have the IAS correct, but it's a 53 knot tailwind. You can see the little wind vector arrow at the top left

Ah. That must be it. I was just doing the math against the ground speed. Duh. IAS.

<goes back to remind himself how IAS changes at altitude....>

No worries! We have a TAS indication next to our GS indication. I guess the RJ is just that much more advanced than that silly thing... ;)

Frick.... I've never seen a U-2 in person parked, let alone flying. Jealous. Nice pics.

We have TAS too...on the MFD, right below GS...just not enough room to put it on the HUD...guess my "old skool" turboprop will just have to do ;)

Got sent up to ANC for a couple days of flying while on reserve...it was fun to get back up to where I cut my teeth as a brand new Captain.

Random 747 sitting on the ramp at ANC:

"Cold" in FAI (Yes I know it was 'warm' by FAI standards...but to my Southern blood, it was cold as hell):
