I think what people forget is that QOL depends on the individual person and situation. I know former AMF people who lived in base and may never match that QOL. As someone who worked there and never lived in base it was tough. There's also a difference between moving to a base and truly wanting to live in that base as far as your happiness goes. I just think it's important to step back and realize that AMF QOL is great for some and not for others. Be careful with blanket statements like regional QOL is better, because it's simply not true for everyone.

I think part 135 cargo is a bit like S&M or bondage...I don't doubt there are people out there who truly enjoy it, but I can't help but think they might be just a little bit damaged.

Some simply don't know better. Living in base or something and they're treated just well enough... have a friend that hates flying for Envoy or something. That combo can end up leaving someone thinking they're in a good situation. I've seen it on more than one occasion.

Well if you commute across the country , ya that's going to suck. If you live near base, make more than you would at a freight job, and get more time off, it is hard to justify the QOL aspect of it. Yes there are regionals that are better than others, and some regionals would be awful, Envoy would fall under that list for me. Still have a few guys I know that love 135 turboprop freight, and they are nuttier than squirrel turds.

Got to go pick a plane up at the MX facility in KROW and do a couple touch n goes before taking it.

Is that an area 51 bird? Looks like alien shadows in the foreground.

Interesting turn of events. Here's some more pics mostly from a stormy day/night recently:

The only light in the sky when I took this.

I was bored in stop and go traffic, luckily had the camera in reach.

Mesa CRJ-900 and Skywest Bro(breh?) launching off the 01s before a T-storm.

Hawaiian Airlines A330 arrives at SFO with a string of planes landing behind it

High ISO shots are grainy, but I like this. Arrival rush hour, all the RON flights inbound to SFO.

Best airport restaurant in California hands down. Have you had the tri-tip sandwich??

Agreed. Such a vibrant airport with so much going on, great restaurant, cool planes to see each day, and multiple FBOs bending over backwards to get your business and offering cheap fuel to go along with great service. Last time I was there they were about to tow my A/C and I told them I was about to leave. They said they needed the spot for two Apaches coming in. As I did my final walk around I saw the spot said "CIA only". I was about to take a photo of the paint then realized I was parked at Channel Islands Aviation.

Not yet, looked at the tri-tip tostada special yesterday, went with the Blueburger. I'll look at the Tri-tip sandwich next time.

Parked in the CIA only spot this time was this DHS helicopter.

That's awesome! There is always cool stuff to see up there. They grill the tri tip outside every Wed, Sat, and Sunday. Definitely recommend giving it a shot
