If you were in Alaska tonight, but not outside or in the air, you missed a hell of a show.

This last one has the Alyeska ski resort and the town of Girdwood in it.

But..... Why?!?! Isn't that sort of just a turbine Bonanza at that point?!
Why put turbines on a C340 or a C421? Because there wasn't an STC for it, so why not? The turbine 36 is halfway decent as long as you suck O2. I've never seen a P-Navajo Turbine conversion, though. It looks kinda neat. I think it has the 'cool' factor like the tubine Aerostar or the jet Aerostar.

Just a guess, but modifying a Baron to a single turbine vs a bonanza to a turbine requires a ton more work...so much so that they can get around the 51% rule and make it an amateur experimental.

Piper made a turbine navajo from the factory. It's called the Cheyenne. The first one's were even called a PA31T before they made them bigger and gave it the PA-42 designation.

Actually, the Turbine Chieftain was the T1040. They only built 24 of them.

I heard about it the next morning, my lady and I were asleep by 830 that night.

I just thought it was interesting that you'd change a twin piston to a single turboprob... just seems like a lot of work. I fully support the looking cool ideology, just seems to take it to the extreme! But if someone's got the money/time, I agree, why not?!
