I had my handheld NAV/COM with me today, listening as it arrived. It was kind of funny hearing "Lufthansa 440 Super." I imagine the wake turbulence behind one of these things is substantial!

Yeah, we laugh every time they come through, we aren't concerned about wake turbulence in the en route environment (at least where I work, some sectors utilize 3 mile separation), but they are always sure to remind us that they are "Super" when they check on.

personally, give me a boeing over an airbus any day

Honestly, I don't have an allegiance to either company. If either company made crummy products, then I highly doubt they would be as successful as they are. Yes, each company has a different design philosophy (especially with respect to automation), but as far as I'm concerned, they both produce good products.

Lear 40/45 series ceiling is FL510.

FL470 is about the highest you can reasonably use at typical weights, moreso in the 40 than the 45.

Amazing view, I bet the picture does not do the real experience any justice though. What's the ceiling on that Lear?
We can climb to FL510...I'm not sure where the other guy is getting his info about the 40 having trouble getting up there but it does better than the 45 at altitude....same engines, same wing, smaller fuselage!
