One of our original members of the Jetcareers.com community is a guy by the name of Dan Rauscher.

Dan's been with us from the beginning and he's always done what he could to help the community and even myself. During some of the darkest days of my career during the furlough-a-palooza days of the early 2000's when I went from "Holy cow, I'm gonna be a 4-year mad dog captain!" to "Wow man, I hope I survive the next round of furloughs" what seemed like overnight, Dan was always there keeping me updated with his career progress.

He helped land one of our very first advertising contracts (whether he knows it or not) because for the longest time, I shunned the concept of running ads on JC. But if FlightSafety would hire a guy of Dan's caliber, they had to be a good company and he'd take care and watch over any people that attended the school because it was the right thing to do.

We followed his career from FSI to ASA and then back to FSI as a simulator instructor after he started a family. He rose from simulator instructor to flying as a contract pilot to many points overseas and it's been great being able to share semi-common adventures of flying over the Atlantic to many locations in Europe.

Some years he could make our event in Las Vegas, other years he couldn't but his spirit, his positivity, is something that is one of the core foundations of our "pay it forward" attitude.

He probably can't make it this year, but Dan wanted to pay for someone's admission to the event (the career fair and the networking event) and sent a check to the home office to give away to someone that would best benefit from attending.

I think the person most deserving of Dan's donation is CRJDriver.

And Kristie and I are going to throw in two nights at the Palms Casino Resort, free of charge.

CRJDriver, even when furloughed, stayed positive, offered guidance and would regularly share job opportunities he's found on the internet right here on our forum. Even when he was trying to search for a job for himself, he was helping others find employment. Take a peek at the "Jobs Available" forums over the last year.

He didn't become bitter, enraged or negative, he kept his head up and helped others when many other people would have spent the time focused on themselves.

The one guy who was in a position to be begging for help was the among the first to offer it to others.

Now with the announcement of cutbacks at Comair, instead of lashing out, he asks for an Aviation Career Expo flyer to put up in the lounge to help his fellow pilots at Comair know about the job fair and perhaps find a life raft in a turbulent time for their company.

Again, pressing forward to help others even when he was in a time of need himself.

Never becoming bitter.

Upholding the spirit of "pay it forward" to his fellow aviators.

It will be an honor to personally recommend him to the recruiters of his choice at the event and make sure they understand the caliber of person he is.

Good news! :) After many talks on AIM starting out about the same time one of these days we'll finally meet! Unfortunately during his recall here in CVG I was always on the road... One day soon CJ!

 Good call...I don't say much on here but I do notice the big contributers and he is one of them!
