Apparently went down about 10:15 pm local, into a Jefferson City residential area; no word on ground injuries. Only had the two pilots aboard, musta been a repo, mx or training flight. No word on whose jet yet.

Prayers for their families.

Plane heading for Minneapolis crashes in Missouri

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. -- A plane went down Thursday night in a residential area of eastern Jefferson City, damaging a building, authorities said.

Jefferson City police Capt. Michael Smith said only the pilot and co-pilot were aboard the CRJ2, a two-engine regional jet that could seat between 20 and 40 people.

There was no immediate information about injuries, either to anyone in the plane or on the ground in the neighborhood just north of U.S. 50 a few miles east of downtown.

Smith said the plane was apparently experiencing engine problems when it went down after 10 p.m. Smith said it damaged one structure, but he did not know what the structure was.

``One aircraft engine was along the road. There was some debris in a tree, and a burned area,'' Smith said. ``You could still smell the fuel.''

Smith said the plane had left from Little Rock, Ark., and was heading to Minneapolis-St. Paul.

Police evacuated a roughly three-block area near the crash site, but later allowed some people to return home. The Red Cross was setting up a shelter for evacuees.

``We have a large amount of debris from the aircraft,'' Smith said

Amanda Clemons, 24, said she heard the plane crash and could see the site from her Jefferson City apartment.

``I felt the apartment shake. I thought it was thunder at first, and then maybe an earthquake,'' Clemons, who is a senior nursing student at Lincoln University, said in a telephone interview.

MSNBC is reporting it as a Pinnacle/Northwest Airlink flight.

Local news is reporting it as "a subsidiary of Northwest Airlines", so yeah, Pinnacle or Mesaba.

By the sound of it, I would guess it was a Pinnacle flight. They fly routes for Northwest out of Little Rock especially to Minneapolis, and all they fly that I am aware of are the CRJ200. That is really bad news to hear all we can do for now is hope for the best.

Definatley Pinnacle then - Mesaba doesn't fly the CRJ.

It was indeed Pinnacle, it is all over the papaer this morning here in Minneapolis. No word yet as to injuries on the ground. Just the two pilots on board and no passengers. I know a know and have flown with a few Pinnacle pilots that were hired in the last year from he FBO that I train at.

Prayers go out the families involved.

Firefighters walk through with flashlights inspecting the scene of a plane crash in Jefferson City, Mo., late Thursday night. Only the pilot and the co-pilot were aboard the plane, which was headed for the Twin Cities.

So far the crew names havenot been released. Management has told the pilots it was a DTW based crew.

Extremely sad day for this ex-PCL guy......

The Yahoo article said the pilots were Captain Jesse Rhodes and First Officer Richard Peter Cesarz.

So sad.....

Shouldn't have been one of our dudes then, PeanuckleCRJ flying for Pinnacle on the CRJ out of DTW, but his name is listed at Denny here on JC.

My prayers go out to their family's.

No doubt. I suppose maybe fire got 'em. The cockpit looks amazingly intact.

Not a great day in the industry. The 747 and this. Blah.

There really isn't much cockpit left. I think what you are looking at is the APU which sits under the tail. The plane is facing away from you and upside down.
