Reports say Captain is sole survivor. Plane was some kind of maintenance flight. 18 or 19 fatalities. A Dash 8 crashed at Katmandu under weird circumstances a few years ago too
I don’t think the FO pulling the props to feather instead of moving the Flaps to 30 is “weird” so much as it was gross negligence and incompetence.

I was thinking more of the USA Bangala Dash 8 Crash where the captain was having an emotional breakdown and crashed the plane....I don’t think the FO pulling the props to feather instead of moving the Flaps to 30 is “weird” so much as it was gross negligence and incompetence.
“On 28 December 2023, the final report was released. It reiterated the preliminary findings that the accidental change of position of both condition levers to the feathered position resulted in the loss of thrust, leading to the aerodynamic stall and crash. Some other contributing factors are also found, mostly human errors due to a high workload, lack of appropriate technical and skill-based training, ineffective crew resource management(CRM), lack of sterile cockpit discipline, and the non-compliance with standard operating procedures (SOP).“

Oh crap looks like the right wing may be totally stalled there, rolling right almost onto its back.
The US Bangla crash was indeed weird as hell. The CA just had a breakdown and ripped the young female FO a new one while the entire time she's crying and freaking out and was lost on the approach in MVFR buzzing terrain not flying any standard kind of pattern. Great CRM, Bangladesh style.
No, that was Comair, in Lexington, KY.Is that the one where they mixed up runway 02 and 20?
Maintenance flight.
18 aboard.

Square the circle for me, please.
Negative, that was a mixup with runway 22 and 26.No, that was Comair, in Lexington, KY.
Yep.Is that the one where they mixed up runway 02 and 20?
Comair in Lexington mistakingly took off on runway 26. He was cleared for takeoff on Runway 22. He didn't confuse runway 02 with 22.Yep.
I didn't say Comair mixed up 02 and 22. I said he was right about the Nepal pilot mixing up the runways.Comair in Lexington mistakingly took off on runway 26. He was cleared for takeoff on Runway 22. He didn't confuse runway 02 with 22.
