CrewPASS...The Beginning.

You have no right to complain if you don't follow the rules.

However asinine their job may be, let them do theirs, and you do yours. Sneaking gels through security out of uniform isn't your job.

So, let's say I'm commuting for a 4 day starting the next morning. Why should I have to pack an extra uniform just so my Crest or contact solution doesn't get tossed by TSA? We don't HAVE the option of checking bags like passengers do. If they want to take their toothpaste or contact solution, they can toss it in a bag and check it. I don't know about you, but I don't feel like going to baggage claim every time I commute in. Like Bike21 said, we don't suddenly become a different person with malicious intent when we change clothes.

As for the loophole of a terrorist impersonating a pilot.....how is that different than now? To me, this article seems like griping by people from the outside looking in that don't have a clue what they're talking about. In other words....pretty much standard. :)

No, im not a regular passenger. They let my through security without a boarding pass because I have a SIDA badge and an airline crew ID. Why can I not go through with liquids just because I don't have a stupid uniform on? I don't know who made that rule up but its dumb. So from now on I'll just take my uniform shirt outta my bag, put it on for a few seconds, and go thru security so they can be happy.

I dunno man... when ya are non reving I have the thought you are just another pax... with SIDA/Airline ID and what not.... :)

What he is saying is that yes, he may be just another passenger. . .but a passenger that has a SIDA badge, an airline crew ID, AND has obviously successfully made it through numberous background checks.

Essentially - he's no terrorist, and he should be allowed to take his "liquids" with him no matter what he is wearing.

Can't say I disagree.

I think we're also missing the major think: CrewPASS is supposed to incorporate biometrics from what I understand. So, unless said terrorist has also cut off a crew member's hand, eye or whatever body part they decide to use and grafted it to his body, I don't see how they can "impersonate" them. Hell, Disney does this with annual passes so people can't use someone elses' pass, and they've been doing it for over a decade!

They do make toothpaste and contact solution in 3 oz. containers. That's more than enough for a 4 day trip. Plus, they are easy to refill at home. I've been using the same containers for over a year now. Just something to think about.

It doesn't matter. CrewPASS will be immediately screwed up by some toolbag pilot and it will go away.

What do you still have a SIDA badge for?

DING DING DING! Novel concept?

Most of my stuff isn't 3oz or less. But then again I don't mind putting the shirt on for 5 minutes. I non-rev in khakis or dress pants anyways for the occasional first class upgrade.

Some places the TSA was on the lookout for guys pulling a superman.

Well in CLE and MCO it's pretty easy to be a mile away from security. Then again I wont bitch and moan if I get caught.

A lot of airlines get SIDA badges for their home airport, clocks. Express is one that doesn't do that.

I had one for Burbank when I was at Amflight.

Thats what I usually do also. As soon as I go through security, the uniform comes off and the buisness casual goes on ;)

I've viewed this article a few times already. Read the comments its funny how we are a bunch of rich pricks basically. Quite funny the publics thoughts about pilots already!

100% agree. Seriously, security at the airport really isn't that bad. You do it once a day. We don't even have to stand in line.

One of my friends that commutes carries a regular navy blue sports coat with him and simply removes his tie and epaulets after he passes through security and puts on the sports coat.... then he looks like a normal passenger and gets to bring his goodies along with.

Why do I have the feeling that I (the 135 pilot) will be getting screwed by TSA from all of this?
