Crashpad occupants who think the place for full-time living

Re: Crashpad occupants who think the place for full-time liv

Can I put in a vote for this thread as being one of the funniest in a long time?? This stuff is really hilarious.

Sorry, Jace...I understand your frustration and I don't mean to laugh at it. I would probably be upset to, but the replies to this thread have been phenomenal! Minitour's "suggestions" were absolutely hysterical!

I honestly don't know how you guys "survive" the crashpad thing. You basically pay two rents, right? One for wherever you live plus one for the crashpad. On a regional FO salary isn't that the entire paycheck??

Re: Crashpad occupants who think the place for full-time liv

It depends. When I was based in LGA when I was recalled & displaced for 6 months it cost me $600 a month just for the privilege of being based in NY. That was crash pad rent, transportation on the Q-Runner & car service and food for the RSV days I spent out there. It sucked.

If I'd been living on my own, there's no way I could have made that work. I'd just gotten married, and moved into Bill's apartment in IND so I didn't have to worry about "home" rent, just my crash pad expenses. What I made paid for me to be based there, and bought our groceries. That was it. He paid for everything else. We thought it was going to be a temporary situation. I really thought I'd get my transfer back to ORD fairly quickly. Months passed, I missed the July transfer by 7 numbers.... then got another furlough letter in August.

So, in a way, it was a temporary situation :D As I only ended up spending 6 months marooned out there before getting furloughed again.

This thread reminds me of my crashpad in EWR. Mainly Colgan people, with some express mixed in there. With Colgan having more than 100% reserve coverage now (about 40 flying lines with about 70 or 80 F.O.'s), and only 10 days off on reserve, people never go home. lame.
