Depends on what group. For aircraft ops, it requires a background that is pertinent. Airline pilot who was an LCA or Standards, some other varied experience that would be applicable and useful, writing skills, previous investigative experience, etc. That's for the major investigation division out of D.C. Can't speak for GA folks at field offices.
