I'm also looking to go electronic, but $255 bucks seems a little steep I guess that's a lot of time saved when it comes to 10+ years of logbook data also.

Depends what your time is worth to you. Including inputting all the remarks and auditing my math as I went, it seriously took me about 2 months to convert my time and that was putting a fair amount of effort into it.

Step one: Go to Netflix
Step two: Find a TV series to binge on
Step three: Convert logbook yourself.

It will take some time but it wont be the worst thing ever.

Send me a PM and I'll send you an excel sheet. It's free and can be tailored to your needs. PIC/ SIC, 30-60-90-180 currency, etc...

When I was CFI'ing I did ~1500 entries over three days. Back then that was 1500 hours due to the short training flights. It's doable.

I started to convert, then said screw it, I'll just pick up digital from the end of my last logbook.

I got two job offers this way, but my original paper logs were in really neat and legible shape. If yours are a disaster, then $255 might be a good deal depending on how many years worth of time you have.

Back in my day, kids, do you know what we had? LogBOOKS. :) :sarcasm:

Hahahaha!

I tell my son all the time....

"When I was your age, I used to play with this neat thing called The Outside! Now turn off those damn video games and go ride your bike. YOU'RE DRIVING ME NUTS!!!"

255 bucks is a steal. It's so boring to concert. And they will add all the aircraft types and cross check for errors. When I first signed up for an e-logbook I had 700 hours and it was miserable to convert. I couldn't imagine 10,000 hours...

Just put an entry in

"Previous log books" and all the times.

This. I did this and it took me a solid 5 days, but it really wasn't as bad as I was expecting.

You can do that. But I have had job apps ask me for all sorts of weird times and specific entries so it is nice to be able to filter odd, specific requests.

I've had job apps ask the same. I went through my paper logbook and figured it out. I still haven't upgraded to paperless though. I need to.

It's not worth it. I have digital pictures that have been moved so damn many times, and now they are all out of order, scattered over half a dozen USB sticks, live (mostly) on a notebook PC for which it's sole remaining purpose is to be a digital repository. In 5 years I'll have to move them again and I think I will just make hard copies.

As others have said what's your time worth?

If you need it done ASAP, then it's worth it.

If not, then do it yourself. If you find it boring (it is) or hate doing it (you will) then just take it a few pages at a time and it will eventually get done.

And while you are flipping thru the pages you'll see some flights you remember, it's a bit of a trip down memory lane!

Thank you all for the comments! I think I have to side with @Inverted on this one and have someone convert my book. I have started converting to Log Ten and at the rate I am going now, the big three won't be hiring anymore when i'm done! (lol) :sarcasm:
