Come on in...see the stupid

The 210s with the 520s in them were extremely loud. The 550s less so, IMS.

I forgot my headset one day and figured I'd use the speaker. WHAT? I SAID I FORGOT MY HEADSET ONE DAY AND...
I don't remember it being too bad inside, but I never forgot my head set, and it was ANR. :)

I just remember being out in the TacAir parking lot smoking and having to end phone calls when the guy heading to Denver took off. That noise would reverberate off everything. All that noise coming from an itty bitty plane. Haha

I'm no aviation pro, but even I know that the PC-12 ain't that loud. There's one that comes into JYO regularly. I'm always impressed by how quiet it is. Then again, it's the five-bladed variety.

I grew up under the approach and departure path of a Class B airport when 727s and JT3D DC-8 Srs 60 freighters (non-hushkitted) ruled the sky. A couple PC-12s is nothing compared to that daily cavalcade of cacophony. Drives me up the wall when people complain about noise around modern planes. When Surf Air starts flying old Spey powered Gulfstreams or Turbojet Lears then that warrants a noise complaint.

I grew up in the Antelope Valley, there isn't much louder than an SR-71 at 2am, also we lived by the railroad tracks. I've come to find that jet noise and railroad noise are sort of soothing actually.

I think attitude has a lot to do with it though. I'm not the type that complains about things that don't really matter and I've never lived anywhere where it's completely silent at all times so I guess I've never grown to expect that.

I've lived under the approach to SJC for 15 years, those first few days after 9/11 were eerie, and then when the first arrival happened after that it was like a moment of "Okay, things are going to get back to normal." Whereas other people were on the news going "I was terrified for my life!"

*shrug* I don't know the answer.

I hate these morons. I bet she moved in wellllll after the airport was built too. You can't fix stupid.

1650 is a realistic minimum. On climb out anywhere from 2300 to 2000.

Fastest ive seen Garrett props is in the high 1500s.
The prop is likely what dictates prop speed rather than engine. The larger the prop the slower the prop speed has to be. PT6's tend to have smaller props than garrets. There is a reason why 2 of the primary garret powered planes have high wings and one is stupidly tall.

Anyone have experience with conquests? Curious what their prop speeds look like in comparison since they usually have a smaller prop I do believe.

No idea, I applied with about 100 over FO mins in April and not a peep, applied again with a hair under 135 mins a couple months ago and still never heard anything from them either. Not sure what competitive mins are for FOs on a Pilatus.
I interviewed a few weeks ago. EVERYONE at the interview was over qualified. I have 9000TT 6000+JETPIC, some guys had C130 time, one guy was a B737/BBJ pilot, Commuter guys etc. They had the pick of the littler. If you don't want to commute, and be home every night, this is a great gig. Their hiring straight into the left seat at $60/hr and a $5/hr increase every year.

Not bad at all, is SQL still a base? Looks like super fun flying to me and home every night is even better. Funny how high above mins they're grabbing.

I believe so. 1 airplane to be delivered every month for a few years. CRQ is newest base. It actually makes a lot of sense that theyre grabbing these kind of pilots. For guys that have high time and don't want to do the regional game, this is perfect. Did I mention they don't fly during Holidays? lol, seriously.

Sounds like it'd be damn near a perfect gig, hope they're successful.

The office I work in is literally 1 mile directly north of San Carlos. You know how often we hear the Pilatus......almost never. I think the only people that might hear it are the ones that live in redwood shores behind EA. Even then, its not gonna send any children running. The sad thing is, knowing the area and the people that live in it, this doesn't surprise me a bit.

I say we start a put to collect enough money to buy a C185. We can all take turns doing pattern work there for about a month. Then, they'll be happy that a PC12 is the loudest thing that goes in and out of there.

I'm down for a $10 donation!
