Comair now 600/100

I don't see that happening. If DL wanted to offload Comair they would have done it already. They still want a wholly owned regional. They woould then have to contract out all DCI flying. They could have offloaded DCA too, but they didn't. Both bring money back into DL. Hey I might be wrong, only time will tell. DL didn't want to take ASA in to bankruptcy, so they offloaded them of to Skywest for cheaper than they purchased them. They had some motive other than needing capital. Like I said only time will tell, so we'll just wait and see.

I was told by a Delta Captain Comair was to be used for Bankrupcy exit financing, along with that D@mn academy in the armpit of Florida, Uhhhhh the guy reeeeeaaaaaallllllllyyyyyyyy hates DCA.

Like Bubba said, will have to wait and see.

:yeahthat:
I have heard that be speculated by some Comair people as well.

"That place" is owned by Comair so it would be included in the sale.

merit... I think he's referring to the age old question of "how long to upgrade?" So your 5 year question begs further questions... do you mean to ask if guys that are upgrading now have been there for 5 years? Or if you were in class today starting day 1, would it be 5 years? Or if you got hired today and had a start date of 2 months from now, would it be 5 years? etc...

That coupled along with the fact that... it is such a fluid number, and changes constantly with contracts, majors hiring, economy, & such... thus... the "speculation" remark.

bob pretty much hit it. This thread is (the second one) about comair's announcement to go 600/1, and we have a bunch of people speculating on the future of comair. will they lose airplanes? will they get more? will delta sell them? will they cease to exist?

And you want to know how long upgrade is... its going to change when an airline is running smoothly, but when you have an airline changing its hiring practices with an uncertain future concerning its flying and a 1113c motion hanging over thier heads, anything anyone says is going to be a wild guess.

you seem to post on here often enough you'd have heard this all before, thats all.

Ease up! I am not planning to run to Comair. Hell, I am not a professional pilot so I rely on industry pilots to keep me in the loop. Just heard from a CFI I've worked with that upgrade there is 5+ years. Is there something wrong with asking that? There shouldnt be for crying out loud.

Dont read to deep into simple questions.

I understand what your saying there merit... but... from an "industry pilot" perspective... it wasn't a "simple question". ;)

How should we ask what upgrade time is? I would think that anyone hiring into an airlne (reg/Maj/Freight/anything) would have some type of idea of the time it might take. I know it changes from day to day but would you go to an job NOT knowing at least what the current upgrade it?

Trying to learn here guys. Should it just be based on the last upgrade and their time to upgrade, or would it be better to look at their current TT? Airline X last upgrade as at 3500TT, Y was at 1000TT.

So, if I'm a low time pilot who just happens to have 100 multi, what's the worst that could happen if I went to Comair? They are going to train me (I still haven't seen any cost associated with the training), during which I will get more hours. If Comair "downsizes", I walk away with more hours and a bit of experience that I would not get instructing at the local flight school. If not, they have pretty good pay, and I'm flying a CRJ.

Seems a bit too good to be true.

How should we ask what upgrade time is?
Here's a great first step... Go back out to the main forums screen and scroll all the way to the bottom. Then click on the "Hot Topics" archive... or here: http://jetcareers.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=76 Between the two pages of Hot Topics there are no less than 10 threads that Doug has placed there regarding "upgrade times".

The thing is... you certainly can ask the question any way you want... and you may very well get an answer that you like or dislike ie: "6 months!", or "5+years!"... But just realize that those times are simply based on: speculation, guys who are upgrading "now" that have worked for them for that period of time and thus the time frame would not neccessarily be the same for you, and current (as in right now, today) industry movement, etc...

So in all seriousness... ask the question any way you wish. Be prepared, not offended with the answers. Since the most true answer we in the industry can provide is "Right now... as of the last upgrade class... the most junior person upgraded in 'X' years. But that may... or may not apply to you if you got hired there today." :)
