Colleges Offering Aviation Courses - GI Bill

Now, as for a personal update, I am set to start SIU Carbondale in Jan. but am reconsidering for Utah Valley University (UVU, also previously known as Utah Valley State College). Their fleet seems much nicer, but other than that it's mostly for personal reasons like being closer to family, cooler outdoor adventures to be had (hiking, biking, climbing, boarding), cooler views while flying. I definitely won't go wrong sticking w/ SIU, but the more I look into UVU, the more I'm starting to prefer it.

From reading around on other threads, seems like the GI Bill didn't used to cover UVA's flight fees. But that might be a bit dated because the UVA website claims that the flight fee's are charged as a part of the fee's for the course, so this SHOULD mean that the VA will cover the flight costs. I'm in the process of confirming this with their Veterans Office. And most of the UVU info I found was for their online program. Anyone out there gone through UVU's traditional classroom program recently or looked into it? Who can chime in about the program? Confirm VA coverage?

Good list. Ill have to look a little more into some of these, but as it was pointed out, i don't think they offer actual "pilot" degrees i guess you could say, just more or less aviation related.
I get back from the sandbox in a couple months, and i think ill be sticking local, at Montgomery Field in San Diego. At least for my PPL and IR anyway
One thing I'm trying to find out is if Student Loan Repayment (SLRP) works for more advanced certifications....i know that ppl is outta pocket, but my GI Bill is almost used up on my 4yr BS degree. No one can seem to confirm or deny SLRP working as far as flight training courses go though

Definitely check out the links that have been posted earlier in this thread, 2 or 3 pretty good ones. No idea about the SLRP though.

More on UVU, I spoke with some people there, the VA started covering the flight fee's fairly recently. This fall, or now, is the first term of them doing it. UVU doesn't offer veterans in-state tuition rates like a lot of other states and also no yellow ribbon, so that means it'll end up having more out-of-pocket expenses. Also, the VA will only cover certain flight courses and the CFI course is not one of them. With other established schools out there that offer in-state rates and a larger variety of courses, UVU is beginning to lose it's appeal.

And as much as I've tried to avoid UND because of the ridiculously cold weather and the fact that it's, well.. North Dakota, that's actually what I'm leaning towards now. They seem like one of the top (if not the top) aviation programs and the most veteran-friendly.

UND all the way. Full benefits and zero out of pocket. You'll deal with the cold.

Yeah, it's ND. Get in, get out. It'll be worth it.
