Colgan Upgrade Class Schedule

All I'm trying to say is that Colgan Will be needing ALOT of captains, I don't think they are going against seniority in my case. I just think they schedule the interviews whenever they can. Managment needs to be careful on how many and which FOs they choose to upgrade.
Why do you think they are advertizing for street captains, its because current captains here will be needed to balance the onflux of a new aircraft type. I've talked with a few very senior captains/checkairmen who have been asked to start formulating a training program.
Colgan likes to move fast, everyone who has worked here knows that.
The aircraft is definetly going to be the Q400, a few of the checkairmen have already been issued aircraft manuals to evaluate Colgan CFM integration.

i.e. what this means is that I along with everyone else who is attacking me here will be upgrading this spring.

No not with 900 TT
Upgrade Mins are 2,200 Total, 1,000 In Type, Successful PC (No TPs), and internal recomendations definetly help.

And it doesn't hurt to kiss up aparently.....

Got go with Wheels on this one. This is definately a reason unions are around. Otherwise, most of the upgrades would be people that do "favors" for management.

I guess you missed the :sarcasm: tag. I don't think Sig was thinking he'd be eligible @ 900TT!

But thanks for the breakdown. I don't think those numbers you're posting are set in stone either.....NEED has a great deal to do w/ who upgrades with what amount of time.

Cruise I absolutely agree with you, upgrades have alot to do with NEED.
Colgan WILL BE needing alot of captains on the saab over the next few months. As of this point in time, requirments are 2,200 TT, 1,000 in Type those numbers came directly from management during my interview.
If the companies' needs expand further requirments may drop back down to 2,000 TT, which will allow FO's more senior than me to upgrade before me.
I got the call for the interview and showed up, not even thinking about the fact that I was jumping seniority. I did mention I thought that their were people more senior than me, but TB, MF, and CJ informed me that I met the minimums and that they needed to fill the March and April Upgrade classes as soon as possible. They are even looking at hiring street captains in the mean time to compensate for the forecast growth.

You guys knew this could happen working for a non-union airline. That's how it works in everything else in the world guys!

If you suck up to your boss, you're going to get the promotion before other workers.

That being said...jumping ahead of guys just because crew scheduling likes you is completely wrong.

Seriously...

But we CAN! Our very own sorrygottarunaway was in the class this guys says he was in. Wonder where runaway is? Do you know this tool?

Sorry.... 2nd year pay sucks, waiting for upgrade sucks, so I have (along with another Colgan FO) taken a job working the ramp in BGM to help the colgan flights get out on time since the ground crew is short staffed anyway. The $$ is dearly needed. I don't have much time left over to get online here.

Our base has our lead FO from the August 2005 new hire class, and myself and the #2 are from the October 2005. We all have the hours, have TDY'd as much as we could have, didn't fail a PC, never say no to being drafted, and still have not been called for an upgrade interview. This ColganFO must be pretty well liked in MNZ, since personal discussions with our chief pilot have informed me that they are proceeding in seniority order as best they can, since they do understand how hard 2nd year pay is.*

*if they understand, then why don't they raise it?

What date did your class start? I never really heard of an FO who was a 'floater' like you said. Is this something new they are doing? I find it ironic that you have no base. We have not been THAT short this whole time you have been at Colgan.

I agree. With the amount of ship-jumpers this past year, you would A) have been able to get into the base you wanted (heck they were begging for FOs in HOU and famous 8-hour day ITH!) B) been told to choose a base since the whole reasoning behind out-basing is that the company does not have to pay per-diem all the time. Besides, if you don't have a base, you couldn't be away from your base, so how could you earn per diem, or have enough credit to be over block with all the dead-heading?

Yep, I've had that same discussion w/ the C.P. and the very same things came out of his mouth. Upgrades are proceding according to seniority.

Also, it was supposedly discussed regarding the low wages for 2nd yr. FO and was determined to be in-line w/ industry standards. Who's industry? I don't know. 'Cause it sure doesn't measure up to any other Saab operator out there.....unless the powers-that-be think comparable pay is around 15-20% lower than any other similar operator out there! :insane:

There's no need to. People will still go there and hang on for the "quick upgrade". As long as an airline can fill the front seats, there is no incentive to raise pay.

Dear, Colgan Employees
I sincerely apoligize from my statements and comments. Looking back I can see how at a glance my words appeared arrogant and insensitive to other pilots here who have worked hard. My intentions were never to gloat, and I promise I am not jumping seniority on people. I would turn it down hands down if it meant cutting in line.
Irregardless I would still like to remain on Jetcareers, and all I ask is that my peers at Colgan can still accept as one of them and not the enemy.
Our pilot group is too small to have enemies, and I truly believe we should lean towards being a tighly-knit group and not a loose affilation of pilots.
Sincerely, me
