In the very near future, we will roll out our Strategic Plan/Vision for 2012. The purpose of this plan is to ensure that we are all on the same page when it comes to what’s important to us, where we’re going, and how we’re going to get there. There are several keys to the vision with “People Matter” at the top of the list. The one element that will embrace all elements of the plan is “World Class Safety.”

We will share our Strategic Plan 2012 with our Board of Directors during our Board meeting in March. Soon after, we will visit our hubs, hangars, and stations to share the entire plan with all of you.
-Your boy Phil.

Oh this is going to be AWESOME, I can tell.

So NOW they are focusing on "World Class Safety". Makes sense.

I'm sure a good pilot contract is part of their "strategy"...

At my interview 2 weeks ago I asked "Where do you guys see Colgan 5 years from now" The guy said a very strong company, and possibly merged with Pinnacle" so...there is my 2 cents

I know I am not that bright considering I fly for a living in the regional airline sector for a company that has one of the worst reputations in the industry...BUT, doesn't 2011 come before 2012?
Seriously, it sounds like merger written all over it, and the end of the Colgan "brand". Damned just not sure how to feel about all this. So much of what has come to pass in the events leading up to CJC 3407 that it really bothers me that I as recently as a couple of weeks before the accident felt something was inevitable. So, now here we are a year later and it is difficult to assess whether we have actually made progress or just been fed another line of corporate rhetoric?

Regards,

There will never be a merger between Colgan and Pinnacle
Colgan will fly Turboprops
Pinnacle will fly Jets
Colgan will probably end up with 100 or more q400's when its all said and done

If they merge there is no threat of a whipsaw
The stratigic plan of 2012 is where this company wants to be in 2012 as a whole.
I believe the reason they chose 2012 is that there are a ton of regional airline contracts that become void around that time and its a good time to try and win new business and by that time colgan should be growing to around 45-60 q 400's
We got the same message at Pinnacle.

HAHAHA.....pinnacle did this a few years ago. All they did was hang a pair of boxing gloves in every domicile, and base staff wore "are you ready for the fight" t-shirts. This means nothing to us pilots and FA's. It wont affect us one bit. If anything, you might be one of the lucky few that gets a new t-shirt. Other than that, its biz as usual.

My wife currently uses the "Bigger Slice of the Sky" shirt to clean toilets. I think it's wildly appropriate. She picked that shirt on purpose, too. As long as I still get my free drink coozy. I missed out on those. And the frisbees.

You sure that wasn't a taunt from managment concerning contract negotiations?

Considering that one of them was never a 121 PIC, isn't typed in any of our airplanes, hasn't flown in years. Regardless of whether he is a nice guy doesn't make it a good thing that he is "Captain......... IAD Chief Pilot. Will have a very short honeymoon.

We had a MSP ACP that was an FO, our current DTW ACP is the last guy on the seniority list (left for United, furloughed, came back) and our "Director of Flying" (fancy name for CP) is an FO.

I'm not even sure what the qualifications for CP are anymore. If it's any indication of our former MEM ACP, it's "must be able to scare FOs into voting for contract by saying they'll be furloughed."
