Colgan (again)

I've only been a colganite since sept., but I'd be happy to answer some questions. We all hear about seggy and his beech, but what about some saab stories? :nana2:

I think SYR, BGM, or ITH may be possible shortly after training. SYR was on the list of bases that we needed FO's for the slaab pretty bad. An FO from BGM and ITH just changed bases to CHO, which opens up a spot in each one of those. CHO has become the vacation base for FO's that are about to upgrade I think. 4 of the 8 FO's here are within 10 numbers of upgrading. I've been here over a year and i'm still number 4 in the base, lol.

No one cares about the Saab thats why.:sarcasm:

What stories do you guys have anyway? You guys have a cake job ;).

Unlike most I rarely put the autopilot on cause I wanna see what its like to be a beech pilot. Plus sometimes I dont have a choice when we have an MEL for the AP and FD. Good times

If you want to be like a beech pilot stand at the bottom of the stairs in PQI with a negative -35 degree windchill as 19 PAX trickle out one by one. Or have to worry about a Ruskie baby, or have a passenger tapping you on the shoulder asking where is the bathroom on the plane as you are shooting an approach to minimums into SYR.

Flying the Beech is much more than not having an autopilot :)

Anywho Colgan rocks! We are winning some bids against Mesa :D

When did PQI go beech?

Or was it the Slaab broke and they sent you up there?

As sad as this sounds, if I was stuck on the saab I would probably want PQI. Yeah I know I'm pathetic.

It seems like the Saab LOVES to break up in PQI on days that..

A) I am working
B) It is below -5 degrees F
C) The wind is blowing to at least 30 knots
D) They want to see Seggy freeze.

Seriously, I *heart* Maine flying.

It looks as if 2 of the 3 airports have asked for colgan to do the flying. Morgantown is scheduled to meet next week. Colgan, Air Midwest (Mesa), and Bigsky all bid on the flying. It looks like bigsky is out becuase they say they can't start until May. Mesa was the low bidder on both, but it sounds like both airports had mesa service before and were not too happy. Ultimately it's up to the DOT. But from that last article, it sounds as if the regional airport authority endorses a carrier, that helps. And 2 of the 3 have endorsed Colgan so far!

From what I remember about those, Regions took over from mesa (air midwest) because of poor service, and origionally proposed service to CVG under the DCI banner. DL said no, so they changed to CLE under COconx (for no added cost to EAS).

Not only that but MESA screwed up the bid big time. The request from the communities was either...

three roundtrips in a Saab or four roundtrips in the Beech. Mesa put their proposal in for three roundtrips in a Beech. Ooops. They are fairly certain it will be awared to us because of that screw-up.

Look for CMH to open up as a crew base, we will be taking over flying from CMH to PIT for Airways, they are putting a plane there.

Furthermore we are going to be flying from SYR-PIT, SYR-BOS with additional planes AND look for the possibility of ALB-PIT service soon.

Lastly, they announced I am going to be Beech 19hondo Chief Pilot :)

(only kidding on the last one!)

Seriously, who wants a job with us? We are interviewing!

Once again 100 hours of total Multi-Time is FIRM.

Why doesn't US Airways allow CJC to fly into one of their hubs...like PHL or CLT?

The SYR-PIT is going to be taking over the route currently flown by PDT?

Was this the expansion you were talking about?

colgan used to do clt for usairways, but left because of the cost structure, and landing/departure fees in clt. I'm not sure why phl, but i'm glad that we stay out of that dump.

Damn I might have to get off my butt and drop some cash, Seggy does Colgan look down on that safety pilot stuff? If they dont care...what if most of it is safety pilot time? (thinking about turning into a mooch)
