KRMG – Tulsa
CALGARY, AB, CANADA —

It seems like pilots have plenty to concentrate on while navigating those metal tubes that hurtle through the sky.
However, several decided they needed more.
Air Canada reports they found “suggestive images in Company aircraft.”
More simply, they found porn in the cockpit of several planes.
CBC News obtained a document the company sent out saying, “I am disappointed to have to raise this issue once again, but unfortunately we have some people that have yet to understand the message,” Air Canada’s chief pilot Rod Graham wrote.
As long as six years ago, a female pilot said there were pornographic pictures, some of them violent, in the cockpit she was working in.
Authorities confirm having porn in the cockpit isn’t against the rules, but they are worried about distractions.
Air Canada claims the material was restricted to one plane headed to Las Vegas but promise to put an end to the behavior.

This story is over 2 years old.

Air Canada isn't the first or last Ejet to have golden nuggets of porn stashed in the cockpit.
And by porn, it's mostly the Vegas stripper cards that @Derg collects.

Really?

I thought this was cockpit porn? Aeroflot rounded up their hottest flight attendants, got them all naked, and put them in a 777 to do a calendar photo shoot that went out to their elite level frequent flyers.

That lady needs to quit whining and go fly a kitchen.
BOOM!

Seriously though, the type who cause a huge stink about this are also the women who want equal treatment. Ok fair enough. THere has been porn in flight decks for years, way before women wer allowed in there, and now G.I. Jane comes along and wants to change it.

tl;dr: Embraer pilots are perverts.

I am told that if you peek behind various and sundry escape rope doors, you'll find things. I do not participate in, or condone, such tomfoolery; you have a right to a harassment-free workplace, although the fact that Transport Canada happened to be on the jump and discovered inflight pornography is somewhat hilarious.

If someone wants to look at porn in the cockpit, let em. Who cares, just try not to leave it behind.

OMG, Canadian pilots are human, they look at porn, just like we do. Next thing yah know, we'll hear their pilots drink during their overnights.

If you have to refer to a picture manual then you're not doing it right.

Sorry. Couldn't resist.

I have come across it from time to time in both civilian and military flying. Here is my take:
It isn't done so that two dudes can look at porn in the cockpit. It is done as a maintenance-aircrew "stick it to the man" sort of graffiti tag if you will. It is usually hidden in a location that pilots shouldn't be looking in the first place and in my brief experience with it in the military, our women maintainers were completely on board with it. The pilots were hit or miss, but the ones who didn't want to see it didn't go looking.

I know this is being discussed over on the other airline website, and people are getting all bent out of shape and butt hurt about it. In this world of PC BS where everyone gets offended about everything, it is sometimes refreshing to catch a glimpse of something that is so completely against that entire way of thinking. Would you rather your organization be like the Air Force where an IG literally has gone into every squadron, some who trace their roots to WWII and Vietnam where guys were literally dying and being captured, and removed every trace of what could be considered offensive to others, including pieces that have a definite place in history? Same thing happened in the Navy on a smaller scale. It's a naked person/persons doing something that everyone does. It is like the whole breastfeeding argument. Who cares? Being hung up about nudity is so low on my priority list, I just know I will never get to it.

That's really nice that you see it that way, but you still have a right to a harassment-free workplace. The fact that I'm not personally bothered by it doesn't mean that someone else won't be.

Also, this is NOT the Navy.

I agree that things like cockpit nudity have seen their day. It is only my opinion so please don't get bent out of shape by it.

I have seen it more in my short civilian career than I have seen it in the Navy, btw. The PC police have made the military about as squeaky clean as possible these days. I would say much more so than the airlines. I just find it unfortunate that people are slinging around terms like "harassment free workplace" over something so benign. I guess my point is that in the grand scheme of things, this seems pretty low on the list of stuff to worry about, but I digress. I think it is humorous, not erotic or demeaning to anyone. Maybe I need to sit through some more lectures on sensitivity. I understand that not everyone feels that way, and I respect that.

Again, only my opinion. I am all onboard with the way that the cockpit "workplace" has evolved and have never been prone to career endangering stunts, so rest assured.
