Cockpit Door Breached in Under 2 Seconds (VID)

F-14? Maybe, F-4.

No, I think they were just phasing the last of the F-14As out around 1966

It's a procedural vulnerability.

Next from CNN: The risk of putting Jet-A into a Cirrus is shown, followed by simulations of flaming wreckage falling onto an elementary school playground, and children running with their hair on fire.

BTW - that was a GREAT movie!

Those who know me also know I'm not little. When I had to ride up front once the captain turns to me and says you make a great plug for the door.

The secondary barrier is a good idea - better yet would be another armored door between the passenger compartment and the forward galley. (Imagine an ATR on smaller scale). Safe room for the cabin crew, and solves the lavatory issue. Would it weigh more? Yup. Would it be expensive? Yup. But it would eliminate that particular threat.

Put a few angry badgers into a cage. Shake up the cage really good to piss them off even more then leash them somewhere near the cockpit door. Ill guarantee you no one is gonna mess with that cockpit door. Every escalating situation can be solved using angry badgers. Just saying.

What might be of more concern before we put up yet another door, is the fact that everything around the door, you can pretty much put your fist, or at least something hard through... or that you can shoot both pilots in the back through the cb panels. No need to breach the door.

Why don't we just handcuff the passengers to their seats, Con-Air style?

I've had considerably more disturbed people in my airplane, on a regular basis, than anyone in the back of an airliner, they have not been screened for weapons, and I had no problem having nothing but 2 people between us. Personally, if I were in the front of a big jet, I'd have no problem keeping the door open the whole flight. Probably invite some little kids up to.

Don't most airlines place a beverage cart in that area or in the first couple rows so that it reduces the risk of that?

And as someone mentioned, a double barrier yes. Maybe a door in flight deck about 2 feet forward or aft of the actual door that will ONLY allow the main door to be opened if the other door is locked. I hope they don't put the door into the cockpit...how much smaller can it get?

Air Wisconsin solution. Right after the Ohio State or Michigan football games.
