Several of my buddies work for XJT and apparently XJT dispatch really dropped the ball, however, there is no excuse for the lady captains lack of action. Funny enough he said a similar situation happened a few years ago when a crew had to divert to some po dunc alternate after poor WX in route, going missed twice and hitting bingo fuel. Anyways the story goes that the crew put down in some empty regional airport in the middle of the night with no one there. After repeated attempts to call and message the paper pushers the captain said screw it and started calling taxis, limos and hotels in the area while the FO commandeered a baggage cart and unloaded all the bags.
Obviously the Captain broke a lot of company policies and SOP's but at the end of the day he did what needed to be done stepped up to the plate and acted like the PIC he was not some pansy ass 500' auto pilot, FMS button pushing, SOP ass kissing bureaucrat. Grant it this is all second hand info but apparently that is exactly the type of pilot this women was. Everyone on this board knows someone like this, they are people for whom flying is just another job and no matter what the situation is they will never take pride in there life's work. END RANT
