Classy move by JetBlue

Granted most airlines are LGBT friendly, Jetblue is certainly worthy of acknowledgment for its creative idea.

One thing I used to warn some of the newbies on JC about when they'd go on occasional homophobic rants, if you're uncomfortable around your LGBT peers, they're on both sides of the cockpit door. Better look into "over the road" trucking as a solo driver because homophobia will not be tolerated in the airline business.

I'll let a seasoned jetBlue pilot speak up, but I don't think you're right about negotiations.

What I was saying is that those negotiations or anything with the union don't really apply to this thread. I am sure you can open up another one if that is the discussion you wish to have. But, I don't care about the negotiations or anything about the union, I care about the victims and their families in Orlando. Evidently, JetBlue shares that, and they were the ones that extended such a wonderful gift to those loved ones, not the unions, etc. Very impressed, and it makes me want to travel on that airline, even though it is kind of out of the way. I can see why so many are so proud to work for them. :D

I don't know anything about Allegiant, but kudos for them following suit.

I'm just a member in good standing who reads his blast mails and negotiation updates from Alpa & management. Seems like negotiations are going forward as planned, I'm cautiously optimistic.

Yea unions aren't management so they can't make those decisions. I give the management team at jetBlue a lot of credit for reacting as quickly as they did. There seem to be quite a few employees who work in the MCO area for jetBlue. This goes back to my earlier statement that they care about their employees outside of working hours.

Actually it does apply to this thread!

I have found that companies that treat their employees well, act in good faith during negotiations, etc., usually have good outside relations with their community.

Hence, why I asked.

I care about everything.

JetBlue isn't the first airline to have an outreach, like giving out tickets, when a community goes through a difficult time.

Free space-available? Or free positive space?

We got this email today:
FLYING FAMILIES: We have pledged our support to provide free travel to and from Orlando for the immediate family members and domestic partners of victims. So far we have extended nearly 700 segments and are making every effort to provide personalized care and assistance at every phase of the travel ribbon. Those in need can call 1-800-JETBLUE for booking assistance

I know where your priorities are, and they don't relate to anything in this thread. Not sure why everything has to be about you, but I hope you find your happy place soon. I really feel for you, and am sending good thoughts your way, that whatever is making you so unhappy in your life turns around soon. I am sure you have plenty to be grateful for, which this event in Orlando is a huge reminder for all of us to think about that all the time. Anyway...

I am sure other airlines have done commendable things before, but JetBlue is a prime example of what one should do now, they didn't hesitate one but and whomever spearheaded that should get recognition for that. Allegiant followed suit, but it isn't clear how popular the offer they made has been. It's amazing how many segments they have booked at JetBlue! Wow! That is so many more than I thought they would, and again proves that their priorities are in the right place. I can't wait to fly on JetBlue! :D

I am quite happy. Are you?

Still pissed at Delta because of a gate issue?

In my personal estimation (boilerplate duly given), Seggy has a point on this one. It's probably true that someone (likely a lot of someones) in management in Jet Blue cares about the people caught up in this disgusting act. It's equally true that the Companies, themselves, are incapable of caring about anyone or anything. You can like and appreciate the culture, or the constituent parts, or the pretty colors, or whatever. But a publicly traded company exists to make money. Be loyal to human beings, or ideas, or some sense of the inherent nobility and incorruptibility of mankind in the abstract. Don't be loyal to a brand, or let yourself be persuaded that one "cares" more than the others.

So are you saying that if someone states their opinion that does not agree with what the gays have to say, they will be banned or post deleted??

No just... ridiculed mostly.

I giggle a little when I have a captain who makes their sexual orientation and their opinion on others' clear, like, first leg.

"So uh.. now that that's out of the way do you, like, want the pre start check?"

So it's perfectly okay to make all the gay pride comments you want, but a straight guy/gal who has an opinion that is different will be ridiculed? That is real classy.

What's "real classy" is riding your stalking horse in to this thread. You can type whatever nonsense you like here, and be (one suspects rightly) ridiculed for it. You are equally free to express your uh "different opinion" (how would you characterize the opposite of "gay pride", btw? "Gay shame"?) But you'd probably be wise to expect a certain amount of ridicule yourself for so doing. Particularly under the circumstances.

It mystifies me that in the 21st century otherwise normative, functioning adults have strong opinions about what other adults do with still other adults and their boy/girl parts. Like, why on earth would you conceivably care? Could anything have LESS to do with you?
