Claim that 50% of current pilots will retire within next seven years

Yeah, I'd like to see the raw data they used to get 50% of the workforce. How big was their sample? How old were the pilots on average? Where they majors or regionals? Are these retirements gonna be by choice or furlough?

You can make statistics say anything you want if you know how to bend the numbers.

AIR might know that figure. But your source said "up to" so it clearly is not a hard number. Based on the qualifier I'd have to agree with it. But it's not worth worrying about. The more important issue is the health of the indutry in general and the health of the US economy.

50% does seem high. Heck everyone in the industry is just hoping to be around in 7 yrs.
