Cirrus SR-20 pilot needed in Atlanta

I don't understand why you complain so much, there not going to change pay scales just because you complain.

I'm not complaining - just stating that I feel that $20,000 to fly a Cirrus full-time is absolutely horrible!

So next time you ask "Where are you in you career, Bud?" you better come with more than being a 31 year old flight instuctor with a 1000 hours of that sweet sweet 172 time.

I simply asked because you seem to be "talking down" to the Flight Instructors. Maybe when you were a CFI, you were stupid enough to work for $10,000/year. I wasn't.

By the way, why are you so bitter and abrasive?

Hear hear! Where's the love? :rawk:

So.....just curious why someone would brag (or not) about being copilot of a Westwind....peace! :p

I've never actually flown a Cirrus, but I did stay at a Holiday Inn Express last night.

If you have 135 mins. Why would you want to go to a company that only flys Cirrus'? You don't get any more multi, and your opportunities for upgrade within the company seem pretty weak. Maybe I'm missing something...

MTSU av8er, I co pilot a Westwind. I don't sit in this forum and brag about it, I simply was helping a buddy out trying to find a new pilot. I don't understand why you complain so much, there not going to change pay scales just because you complain. Did I find the wrong website or are you saying you are a copilot for a virtual airline?

Well I DO know what I'm talking about and bro here has a point. Why would you ever want to fly a Cirrus around when you have 135 mins when you can go to Ameriflight and have a turbine upgrade in less than 6 months, and before you get that upgrade you're getting multi time.

Just about any other job would pay better than this and be better quality time.

nobody wants to be a janitor.

my gf has a 4-year degree in communications and started @ $20k and now is at $25k making ads for a national organization. these "magic" jobs making $50k+ to start aren't out there, fellas. And if they are, it's because no one else wants to do them, or they are government jobs that pay 3x what they would in the private sector.

There ARE "magic" jobs out there...even though I don't refer to them as "magic". My buddy just graduated college this past May and starting working for a private engineering firm making (read: starting at) $47K/year AND he gets overtime. My first "real aviation job" after being a CFI makes not much less than your "magic $50k/year" job. If this Cirrus guy can buy a $350K-400K airplane, he can afford to pay a pilot...but the key is, he doesn't have to, because we keep selling ourselves short! Pilots aren't going to get high pay because they don't demand it...it's pretty simple. We're educated professionals with a lot of responsibility, the janitor shouldn't be making more money.

Yeah, but the Cirrus is cool!:sarcasm:

A friend of mine got a "magic" job working at an airline making $60k a year out of school.

Management. He's home every night, got $10k in stock and just got a raise to the $65K or more level.

Other pilots did it, w:sarcasm:hy should I?

Watch it - you're going to be put on his list of "complainers" that fly 172's (and making a decent living . . . ).

John Herreshoff, The position is for a low time pilot (500 + CFI) not one with 135 mins. This is not a Sats Air position.

MTSU av8er, I was trying to help out a JC'er that might be interested in the position. If your not interested in the position move on, why compain about pay, what is this going to solve? This my not be your cup of tea, but I have had several interested JC'ers e-mail me resumes. I think you forgeting in all of this is that I am trying to help a pilot that might otherwise not have this opportunity. Isn't this what this forum is all about helping other members? So please remember this when you make comments. I am glad that you are making a decent living as a flight instuctor, most people don't.

And I was trying to help out a JC'er that might want to think about that pay, before accepting such a position.

If your not interested in the position move on

I'm not, thanks. But I can still have an opinion.

why compain about pay, what is this going to solve?

Just like Teddy P said (back in the Harold Melvin & The Bluenotes days), "Wake up everybody . . . ". Sometimes, it's worth it if you can just influence one or two people. Then, they will influence one or two. So on, and so forth. Eventually, we will cause change!

This my not be your cup of tea, but I have had several interested JC'ers e-mail me resumes.

So does Gulfstream Airlines, I have no doubt.

I think you forgeting in all of this is that I am trying to help a pilot that might otherwise not have this opportunity.

I understand that. Just as I'm trying to help a pilot.

Isn't this what this forum is all about helping other members?

Yep! That's what I'm doing!

So please remember this when you make comments.

You remember that when you're making yours, as well.

I am glad that you are making a decent living as a flight instuctor, most people don't.

I don't actively instruct anymore, but that doesn't affect the price of tea in Indiana, PA . . .

I did make a decent living as a Flight Instructor, because I didn't sell myself out. I'm encouraging other people to charge what they're worth, too. If I'm succecssful, your friend will be forced to pay somebody a decent wage to fly his Cirrus. If I fail, he'll have people lined up at the hatch, ready to underbid the next guy to get some "Cirrus time". And that, Bud, is what I fear the most.

So what is the differance if a 500 hr CFI making 20K a year wants to contnue to instruct or make that 20K flying people around in a SR-20?

Nothing - but why why would he only want to make $20,000/year?
