Because it's not like you are getting totally reamed. Most skilled persons don't make anything near their peak pay for the first 5-10 years of their career. But the idiocy starts when you accept pilot job offers that pay wages you could make as a teenager i.e. minimum wage. Although regional pay could stand a 10-20% increase.
