Chicago-Area CFI Jobs

Haven't had time for the online ground school.....been too busy with full time job, finishing up my commercial (ride on the 25th) and the kids. :)

Have gone through the sheppard material and will have the writtens complete before class. All of us knocked out spin endorsement as well.

My spin endorsement got canned last weekend due to clouds and convective activity...I'm shooting for the next few days though. Still slugging through the Sheppard Air prep material for the writtens though.

Become a CSIP

As a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP), you are part of an exclusive team of instructors who specialize in teaching students to fly the best-selling, single engine piston airplane in the world – Cirrus Aircraft. Once recognized as a CSIP by Cirrus, you will be advertised and promoted on our website allowing Cirrus pilots to find you directly. In addition to the visibility you'll receive from inclusion in this worldwide directory, the CSIP credentials you have earned will enable you to teach pilots whose insurance mandates they train or fly with a CSIP. As a CSIP, you will enjoy a number of benefits and rewards:
  • Worldwide recognition as a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot
  • Promotion as a Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot through the Cirrus website
  • Exclusive access to the latest Cirrus Training Materials and product information via our online training portal
  • An invitation to annual symposiums and periodic training communication from Cirrus developed for the Cirrus training network
  • Use of Cirrus corporate marketing tools and resources in promoting your training capabilities
  • Significant discounts on almost everything from our company store, Cirrus Connection, including training and technical publications, software, clothing, and other merchandise, with opportunity for resale
  • Direct training referrals from our flight training staff at Cirrus headquarters
  • Inclusion in our Partner Sales Referral program, which incentivizes referrers of new Cirrus aircraft sales at twice the rate of non-partners
CSIP Requirements

The requirements to become a CSIP are:
  • CFII (Instrument Flight Instructor) or international equivalent
  • 500 hours total flight time
  • 250 hours dual instruction given
  • Professional and moral character
To become part of our elite CSIP Network, start by filling out this application. For more information, please email csip@cirrusaircraft.com.
Initial CSIP Training

CSIP training is a comprehensive course and requires dedicated pre-training on your part to be prepared for the intensive flight training segment. Flight training occurs only with a Cirrus headquarters professional flight instructor with emphasis on developing your ability to fly and teach in a standardized fashion using Cirrus' proven syllabi. Closely mirroring the style of the customer Transition Training program, CSIP training goes one big step further as you will be required to demonstrate an instructor level of knowledge. By the end of the course, you will be expected to teach the last few lessons.
For most flight instructors, CSIP training is scheduled to occur over the course of 3 days with a mix of ground and flight lessons. The price is approximately $2700 which includes 3 days of flight instruction, 1 hour in our FTD, and a training kit. Aircraft rental/use, fuel, travel, and accommodations are not included in this estimate. Since the course is completely proficiency based, the course may be longer or shorter depending on experience and aptitude. Cirrus requires that all CSIP applicants have sufficient knowledge of systems and operations before on-site training can take place. Failure to properly prepare for CSIP training will increase your overall training time and expense.
CSIP Renewal

To retain your status as an active and current Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot (CSIP), you must renew your CSIP status each year. The CSIP Renewal Application can be found on the Cirrus Training Portal and you will be reminded of your renewal two months prior to your expiration.
To renew CSIP status, each CSIP must complete the renewal application and one of the following activities:
  • Complete online renewal modules*, or
  • Complete recurrent flight with Cirrus Factory Instructor or authorized Platinum CSIP or CTC
* To qualify for the online renewal, CSIPs must have conducted 100 hours PIC in Cirrus - 50 of which is dual instruction - in the previous 12 calendar months.

$2700 not including aircraft fuel and rental according to the site....
Not to mention yearly renewal and at least a 100 a year in a Cirrus. Guess if I worked at a school with a Cirrus that might be ok, sure as hell not going to dig in my wallet to stay at their version of current.

Yeah....at that point if I'm at a school as a CSIP, and looking to be short 20 hours for the year, Boss man better be letting me take the Ford for a cross country cruise if you know what I mean.

Does anyone have any info on Chicagoland schools that are willing to hire part time instructors. I'm working on getting my CFI-I reinstated (stupidly let it expire) and have a regular full time job. My goal is to instruct on weekends and evenings...I really did enjoy it when I was doing it at University. Thanks.

What airport are you looking to instruct at?

Doesn't matter to me. I'm just getting back into it after a long hiatus. I've got some rust to brush off, plenty of studying to do and a check ride to take. I live in the Western Suburbs (La Grange). ARR, JOT, PWK, DPA are all easy drives for me to make. I've got one more class to finish my MBA this fall and then I'll really dive into it. Just flying around with some friends right now having a good time.

DPA and Illinois Aviation Academy might be your best bet...DPApilot might have some helpful info there. DPA also has American Flyers, ATP, and Travel Express. http://illinoisaviation.com/ http://americanflyers.net/ http://travelexpressaviation.com/

ARR has Lumanair and JA Air Center http://www.lumanair.com/ http://jaair.com/

1C5 (Clow) is in Bolingbrook, that's a really small FBO and school though, I'm sure you'd have to know someone to get in there. http://www.aandmaviation.com/

JOT - http://jfaviationinc.com/

LOT - http://www.chicagolandaviation.com/ http://www.cpflighttraining.com/
