Chicago-Area CFI Jobs

Evening all,

I'm planning on beginning the career change from my office job in DC to flying by doing American Flyers' CFI program at PWK in either late August or early September. However, I'm wondering about the probability of finding working in the Chicago-area once I have CFI/II. Does anyone have information about the best places to look? I've gone through the previous threads about work in Chicago, but I thought that I would see if there is any more recent information.

Thanks in advance!

If you're in the Aug. 22 class you'll be with us. As far as work, nothing obvious unless you know someone etc etc...

DPA has a lot of corp. operators as well as PWK...My hope is to find part time CFI work at either Lewis or Clow.

Thanks for the replies! I'm still debating between the 8/22 and the 9/12 class. I'd like to get CFI/II all at once, but I'd also rather not wait until mid-September, for a variety of reasons. I was planning on flying out just to check out the place beforehand, but that won't be possible if I do the 8/22 class. Have any of you guys seen the place before?

Been to PWK twice by air, very busy airspace and busy biz jet airport, but I've never seen the AF facility. But look at it this way, come to the 8/22 class and JC will be well represented with 4 new CFI's.

Yeah, you'd think DuPage FSDO would let at least one of us pass on the first roll ;)

Cirrus Standardized Instructor Pilot.

The equivalent of a type rating but doesn't mean anything to the FAA. You can charge a bunch more but they promote you to clients.

Yuup. We're still there if you ever get a change of heart!

Hey I'm totally up for it if you guys are looking for a part time CFI...I know DPA's op's pretty well from my ATP days...just an FYI, Leslie H. hates when you use the covered racetrack as a reporting point... "Why in God's name would anyone willingly put themselves over the same point at 2,000 feet is beyond me!!" :chucklechuckle:

I have 20 hours of SR-20 time from 5 years ago...does that get me anywhere? ;)

Ehhh lol prolly not, but if you get a CSIP I can walk your résumé right in. Otherwise they really want someone with warrior, archer, arrow, aztruck time with intention of getting CSIP.

ozziecat35 I'm definitely leaning towards the class on the 22nd, however, working 8-5 and trying to finish up SE Commercial on the nights and weekends isn't going all that well at the moment, ha. Thanks for the info on PWK, though, I sincerely appreciate it! I'll definitely let you guys know which class date I end up enrolling in. I take that you've already started going through AF's online ground school?

Haven't had time for the online ground school.....been too busy with full time job, finishing up my commercial (ride on the 25th) and the kids. :)

Have gone through the sheppard material and will have the writtens complete before class. All of us knocked out spin endorsement as well.
