Check his face out

Thats classic...I was in the Duchess today from FPR to Key West and we were on the NDB A approach to rwy 9. We were cleared to land, and approach had told Gulf air Xxx to slow for duchess traffic 4 ahead. He kept bringing it in, and tower was pi$$ed. she ranted about him not slowing for the duchess. He apparently didnt care and we had landing clearance canceled and made # 3 and had to circle behind the b1900 and a falcon on the left downwind. Well, onee i got on the ground there I realized Gulf air was the infamous Gulfstream. Just goes to show you. I guess they fly alot of of EYW. I saw 3 b1900's on the ramp. What a friggin clown.

In no way am I a fan of Gulfstream but I dont think its anyones job to expose and exploit the guys that go there. Dont be so quick to judge everyone. I think we should worry about ourselves instead of everybody else.

Dont worry, it'll be there own demise when it comes up in an interview when the question of how they got the 250 hours turbine in that nice little book is asked. A can of worms will be opened.

Let these guys hang themselves. Everyone doesnt need to do it for them.

On this forum if you fly anywere but a mom and pop flight school in a POS 152 your and idiot. Thats the vibe I get.

Yeah, but if you have the oppurtunity to fly at a bigger flight school and fly nicer equipement (for the same money) all you will do is piss and moan about the local, the weather, lack of this or that, so it is a wash no matter the path. I guess it is a natural part of aviation since I have not met a pilot who isn't proficient in the art of pissing and moaning or PAMing as I call it.

just like those guys getting CRJ types w/ 300 hours going to an interview with no actual airplane experience and getting grilled in a technical interview.

There is a flight school rivalry from what I've seen. Westwind hates Pan Am, AirSafety hates Westwind. Everyone hates ERAU, Regional Airline Academy, and anywhere else that is costly.

Do what works for you. Just remember if you do pay for Gulfstream, be prepared to discuss it during an interview. If you bought your type rating at Regional Air, be prepared to discuss the details. Your fellow pilots may laugh but as I have argued relentlessly here, there are more ways to become an all-around good airline pilot without following the yellow brick road.

Just be prepared for what comes along with your choices.

Time to change the batteries then because that is far from the truth. Your generalizations are just that.....generalizations.

The thing that really bugs people is grammar and spelling...... ;)

you're an idiot......

Yeah, Gulfstream seems to get the job done... Those guys are all over the place.

I think it is a lot more risky to go there and put all your eggs in one basket but it does work for a lot of people.

That vibe might be countered by the banner ads at the top of the window.....

I disagree. The more we can slam Gulfstream and their scheme, the more negative press they get and make it personal, the more likely it is someone will think twice or question going there.

Those that have done it and moved on are a lost cause. It's those who are thinking about it we need to reach and explain our veiw of why it's a bad idea. This site treats Gulfstream much better than Flightinfo or APC, as shown in the above posts. Many professional pilots consider them the laughing stock of the industry, and yet, that hardly seems to effect their placement. As long as Colgan and Pinnacle keep picking up these guys, Gulfstream will prosper and grow. The concept has already grown to include big jets at Jet U.

It could go much farther as there is money to be made with it. That's what scares me....

Its Gulf Flight, and not everyone pays to be a pilot there

In my extremely short airline career, the best Captains I have flown with, learned by instructing at a small FBO in a 'POS 152'.

The less stronger captains that I have flown with went to Gulfstream and TAB!

Flying is a constant learning process, no matter if you have 40 hours ot 4000. Those who have instructed can explain whats going on and look at the big picture and think outside the box. Those who haven't instructed can't think outside the box.

Oh really? You know some that haven't paid?

I have to call bogus on this one. I had some guys tell me they "didn't pay." Then I talked to a guy who used to work there, and he said "Yeah, they did. Everybody pays to fly. EVERYBODY."

I was offered a street captain job there, and was told I would only have to sign a training note. I stopped in on the friday before my Monday class and Bill Viega Jr. said to me, "Remember to bring your check for 15k monday" (This was in 1995)

I said "my deal was a training note, no check!"

He said, "No tickee no laundry. Bring a check or no job."

I told him no job and kiss my a**. Walked out and never went back.

Flew down to SJU and BEGGED for my resignation letter to be ripped up at Eagle!
