Click on Corona Beach House, read under conditions. Went through MIA on Sunday and Monday and used it both times for take out. 8 oz blackened salmon, brown rice and steamed broccoli plus key lime pie is like $28 after tax.

Im literally about to land and try this. I feel like Priority Pass is really going to regret making this available in my hometown airport.

I really like salmon and key lime pie.

Ok, I see now. It's airport specific and MIA seems to have a lot of options. I searched LAX, and the Alaska lounge is available but with the first sentence starting off about must have a positive space ticket on that day in order to use the lounge. Defeats the purpose as an airline pilot.

First year and one time-benefits are just for the first year. It seems the annual fee is $450/yr and you get 300 back on travel stuff. Most pilots can probably spend the $300 so that pays itself off. Now you have $150 left, and if you travel internationally a lot, then the global entry fee pays off another $100. The remaining $50 can pay itself on lounges, IF the airport you frequent allows usage at lounges and restaurants without strings attached. So for some pilots, this card might be worth it.

Btw, does your lounge access allow one free access per day? Eg, no per-visit charge on your credit card for lounges?

Global Entry is a $20/yr benefit because it lasts five years if you keep the card.

Not sure what your last question is about...but I used it twice in one day...once for food in PDX then later that same day when we got to DFW we sat at the lounge and enjoyed snacks and beverages. Correct, no charges come through on the credit card, you swipe the priority pass card as a credit card.

I agree it depends on where you go, if this will be a nice benefit or not. That pretty much applies to anything and everything. You spend $15/day on a car lease, I spend a lot less than that but have some nice perks, since I only drive 2000 miles a year and I spend more time in airports than my car :). I’m a huge subscriber to the experience lifestyle vs material :).

Ok, that answers it. And you show the priority pass card or the credit card to get your $28-30 dollars free meal? You can use it multiple times per day in different locations, and it sounds like you are capitalizing/doing well on it. Good memory on the car! It's a toy worth having. :)

Priorities man, different for everyone. Some dudes give me a hard time for paying someone to bid for me, saves me $$ on hotels, time spent on the computer, better trips, time gained working on my side gigs, etc. No kids to feed so $450 a year is cheeeeeaaaap for the added benefits.

The card is normally for access to a lounge which, depending on location, will usually have food and an open bar. Typically I hit the bar quite hard, so get a lot more than $30 in value, especially when traveling with a companion. Best of the PP locations I've been to is the Turkish Airlines lounge at IAD. Some airports have restaurants that will give a discount to cardholders as well, and I believe MIA is one of those, but I've only been to the Centurion there. As I recall, there were Key Lime Gimlets...

All I know is we got almost a week free in Hawaii at a very nice Marriott just from using the points from signing up. Only used about a 1/4 of them too and earned them back in about 4 months. I don't bring food on trips so I rack up points pretty quick, the point balance and my waist size will prove that. We use the PP lounge quite a bit too. We also used the travel credit to buy tickets to go to Disney. We are very happy with the card but we pay everything we can with it and pay it off each month.

And @Cherokee_Cruiser I have used the PP on a long sit or delay. Just put a jacket on and tell them you are working. Never had them say no.

@wheelsup is getting pushier than AA onboard flight attendants and the red aviator master card..... :bounce:

Those are churnable! But not actually the best card to use for purchasing flights on AA. The 5x points on airfare make the Amex Platinum the best card to use for every airline.

Anyone have the Amex platinum card? It's 550 a year with similar benefits but I got an offer for 100K points for spending 5K in 3 months and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. Get Delta sky club lounge access, centurion access, and priority pass as well...

You’ll make money on it for a year and have all those perks? Why not?

So. I have both cards. It's worth it to me. Cashed in my points and got business class on Singapore Airlines A350 SIN-MAN-IAH for me and my gf. The Centurion Lounges require a boarding pass with a seat assignment. So just a seat request card doesn't work. You can use an arrival boarding pass though. Most PP lounges want something; seat request card, boarding pass. Some I've just told them my flight number. And then Delta, you have to have a Delta boarding card to use the Amex card. I eat and drink enough to cover the $150 cost of the cards.

So to get access to the Delta Lounge via the Amex you have to actually be flying Delta?

And, which card do you prefer?

Yes. You have to have a Delta boarding pass to access the Delta Sky Club using the Amex Platinum card. A seat request or even a jumpseat request will work though. You cannot bring in a guest either.

Of the two, I think the Chase Reserve has a slight edge. Since it gives 3 points per dollar on travel and food, I'm using it every single day. Plus I can combine those points with my other Chase cards such as the Freedom, so I'm really racking up the points. You get Priority Pass lounge access as well. It's also automatic Gold with Hhonors, SPG, and Marriott, so I get plenty of free breakfasts.

The Amex only gets you 5 points per dollar on airline purchases only and hotels and travel booked through the Amex website. Since I non-rev, I really don't use this card much for purchases. But I do rack up some points when my family wants to travel, since I act as their travel agent. There's the $200 Uber credit as well.
